1-500/1 vs 2-500/1

just finished the box for my two 12w6v2's, its 4ft^3 @28hz, i currently only have a single 500/1 hooked up to the two subs...with plans of adding a second 500/1 in the future.

i thought i was going to be dissapointed with the output of the subs considering they are only getting 250watts each. after getting it all hooked up, i'm very surprised. it gets loud, its clean bass, shakes and rattles the car, etc.

my main question is this: will i notice that big of an improvement from adding another 500/1?

if so, **** i cant wait for it to get here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

I was / kinda still am in the same boat. I would imagine it would be a pretty big difference.

I went from one 12w6v2 sealed to two sealed both on a 500/1 and it really didnt seem to be that much louder with two. Doubling the power would put them both where they are happy and really start to move.

Also, the word on the street is 2 500/1 > 1 1000/1. More watts. Never seen a 1000/1 benched though.

Since you already have one 500/1 it might be cheaper and simpler just to snag another 500/1.

i had two before, in a small sealed box ran off of a ma audio 1800 watt amp. it was all set up in the car when i bought it, dont even know the real power of that amp. it all got stolen on my birthday, so this is my replacement stuff.

i can definately tell the difference in the ported box though...but, obviously so, its a large ported box for those subs vs a small sealed enclosure.

by adding another 500/1 you'll only gain 3db. so IMO, the extra 350-400 you'll spend probably won't be worth it unless you think it'll be worth it.
3dbs is quite a bit. if that box has a chamber for each woofer, it can be done safely, but if not, definitly do not run two amps to two woofers in a common chamber. i ran two 500/1's in one of my old setups. you will notice a big difference, but i would sell that amp and buy a bigger mono block.
