1.5 @ 29hz and Two bookshelf speakers build log *PICS*

I got the box sanded and the sub hole cut out and I am about to test it out in my car with the av12. After that, I'll let the IDQ get a feel for it and see how I like them in my car.

My free-hand jigsaw cut:

My battery was dying while cutting but I forced it the rest of the way so it started chipping and got a little off towards the end. Oh well; it still looks very nice for a $20, 14.4v, jigsaw and free-hand.

Ghetto sub test fit:

Uh oh..:

I had some obvious clearance issues but used my dremel to cut away at it. I have no clue if I used the right bit but it worked **** well. I almost cought the wood on fire and it was throwing cinders everywhere! Pretty awesome to see.

When I get my sub and the IDQ in, I'll get some more pictures and maybe a video of the two.

Well no videos or new pictures because there really isn't anything new to see.

I didn't like the av12 in it; I lost a good chunck of 25-30hz material with it and only slightly gained some output around 50-75hz. There was no port noise at all at 30hz (tuning) and no noise at 25hz either. It has roughly 20 inches of port area before the flare.

The IDQ sounded wonderful in it and was beautiful in my car. 50-75hz was much louder than the av12 but it just doesn't have much authority with the 30-40hz stuff. It was pretty flat sounding and pretty tight.

I'm going to keep the IDQ in this enclosure and keep it in my room. The av12 will stay in its current enclosure until I feel like making something new. I'm going to be staining this enclosure cherry when I come home next weekend. I guess I'm going to skip out on SBN but I have other things I need to get done and I want to finish both of these projects. The bookshelfs are not for me but for a friend so I would rather not keep him waiting.

so are you going to keep messing with the flared port or what
Maybe. I think it could really be useful if you have the room to get a larger radius than what I worked with. I'll probably play around more with actually making a horn out of it. If I had access to a meter, I would love to see what kind of numbers I could put up with one.

Oh, this is the color stain I plan on using:

***UPDATE***

Well this update is long overdue. I have the IDQ in the 1.5 enclosure and it's getting play every single day in my room. That enclosure is finished and I'll get some pictures of it later.

The bookshelf speakers are also finished but one of the tweeters (Seas 27TBFC/G) was DOA so I have to send it back. Lame. The other one is in and it sounds fantastic. The set is very nice and this guy is **** lucky he is getting them for free.

On with the pics.

Unpainted but with crossovers and polyfil in:
