I'm building a new enclosure and am going to try kerfing for the first time and hopefully it will go well. It's going to be 1.5 @ ~29hz and will either house an IDQ 12 or my av12. It will be finished with a cherry stain and polyurethane.

I'm also building two bookshelf speakers for a good friend of mine. I'm pretty much done with them except for the woofer, tweeter, and port cutouts. These are going to be .5 cubes each tuned around 55-65hz. I'm not positive on the drivers yet nor the finishing.

Anyways, onto the pictures:

Your help looks a little bored.
Yea, he was because I only needed him for about 2 cuts really. He was going to stop by before he knew I was building anything.

looks nice
what kind of wood is that your using for the bookshelves?
Birch.

Today didn't go so well. My first test piece snapped before bending 90*. This had me a little concerned. I changed the spacing of the kerfs and the depth and the second test piece bent wonderfully. I decided to go ahead with my final piece. After it cut, it did not want to bend much at all. I soaked it down with water and it bent more but the bend radius just wasn't consistent. I had to cut a few more slots but it still wasn't working well. After it was completely soaked, I was able to get the bend I needed and then POP... the port side piece cracked on one layer. There is still another layer holding it together and I'm clamping it with glue right now. Hopefully it will work out well when I clamp everything down.

Here are a few pictures I took:

More later if I finish it tonight.

Well I was able to ghetto it out and get the port connected after letting it glue back strong. I'm not that happy with the way it's turning out but I guess we will see later when I put the top on (tomorrow). The port width is pretty uneven but it only varies by about .25" before the flare.

I wish I was as good of a carpenter as Belunt; his looks much much better than mine.
