when music is your goal, invest more on the speakers and speaker amp than the sub and sub amp.
if bass drowning out music is your goal, do the opposite.
define "no clue"
do you own a digital multi-meter or have access to one?
do you have access to or own tools that include socket sets, screw drivers, hex key sets (also called allen wrenches), drills, etc?
do you have a garage or place to do the work, and are you patient enough to take time?
while "installing" an audio system seams easy, there is a lot to it and it requires time and tools.
is the vehicle bone stock right now?
can you be patient and build a complete system over time, investing in pieces?
my recommendation is to build the system in steps. buy good quality each time and the investment will last you a long time and be more rewarding.
a good head unit and good speakers is a nice start, maybe even an amp on the speakers. i, personally, worry about bass last and only after the front stage (front speaker system) is as good as I can get it. that way, always enjoy good music and just improve on it. starting with bass means you sacrifice good music for noise.
