I use sketchup. I like birch for a lot of reasons. In this case, it doesn't swell when you drive a screw into it like mdf does. In bigger stuff, its much stronger than mdf at about half the weight.

It is rougher on your tools and does t rout so well.

Birch is ~48/sht and MDF is ~32 a sht

so it is more expensive

My saw came with an angle guide. hard to use, on some of it, esp. the smaller stuff.

good build i do something close to this in my silverado but instead of downward facing i used 8s firing at the doors and ported forward
