08 Silverado First Stereo System Install. Need Help

I Currently have stock speakers, stock head unit. But i have a Jl Audio 10w3v2 D2 Sub, and an MTX audio amp. Id like to get a better amp.

I listen to alot of heavy metal, alot of fast Rhythms of double bass, and as of now, the sub keeps up just fine. It hits hard and fast, no rumble in between the hits.

I currently have the sirius XM satellite activated, so ill need a head unit that will accomidate it. Im looking at the pioneer dvd head units to be installed, and pioneer TS-D1602R speakers for the front and rear doors.

My truck comes with stock tweeters in the A pillars, so i dont know if ill need tweeters, or if i install them, will it be too much high pitch noise.

The speakers are 260 watt each, so do i need an amp that will power 260w x 4 speakers? 1040 amp?

Any help would be appreciated. I am mechanically inclined, so the install shouldnt be hard, i just dont know anything about the right amps to buy, etc

Dont know how much this will help but i got a 08 silverado extended cab and just got a system installed and it sounds awesome . Im running a sony double din touchscreen the xav-601bt its detactable face which was a must for me ... **** thieves . Left all interior speakers stock they are not bose and im running 2 jlaudio 10w3v3s under the back seat on a jl 1000 1v2 slash and it slams pretty hard. Subs arent broken in yet but it will make yoru vision blurry on real bassy songs and the interiors sounds pretty decent for only being powered by the deck . Sony made a attempt on copying a alpine with the listening position and delays and such . havent messed with it a while lot but its a awesome setup so far .. did cost a bit but think i got what i paid for and its super clean and LOUD . i know some jl haters will chime in but hey ive owned it all old school ppi mtx orion and others .. all are good and the jl is just as powerful and cleaner imo . hope it helps .. ill get some pics up of the install and stuff when i can ..

ps will get a 4 channel amp to power interiors soon and replace them with componet sets eventually.

if your truck has stock tweeters mounted check the depth and look into component speakers. components give you the best sound and with stock tweeter mount you don't have to do any custom modifications to your doors. your high pitch noise concern is very valid, many component speakers allow you to tune your tweeter output, if not go into your deck EQ and drop your highs to where you want them. from there you need to make sure you're looking at your speakers RMS power not peak power as far as finding an amp for them. if you find a good 5 channel amp you can run a single to each of your speakers and your sub channel (on a good amp) should put out a minimum of 300-500w RMS x2/4 ohms

08 silverado doesnt have much room behind the a pillar for aftermarket tweets. The couple I have done have been REAL tight. I love the tsd speakers when properly amped. You should be able to fit the tsd1702 in there pretty easily. But if you want to raise the sound stage then look at the tsd1720c. The tweets are a little big and are probably not going to fit in the factory location. But you can always flush mount them elsewhere in the door panel.

btw, I dont think there is going to be an easy way of having the factory sat radio work with the aftermarket.

note your head unit replacement starts with the GMOS adapter - so keep $100 of your budget free to buy that adapter so you interface with the Class II Data Bus.

i strongly advise against coaxial in the front doors. get a comp set for the front, locate tweeters in the stock locations - modify as mentioned above. I agree with the TSD component recommendation as well. Don't skimp on front speakers if you like music.

factory sat won't work with aftermarket. you'll need the aftermarket adapter/receiver and the aftermarket antenna to mate with the new HU. reusing the factory antenna is unlikely, but you can try it.

The power handling is 60W RMS. that is the only number that matters. ignore peak power ratings. Any decent 4 channel amp is fine. 50W RMS x4 @4 ohms is enough. 75W RMS x4 @4 ohms is even better. Budget $200 for the amp.
