the old xxx is 12.5"s...like every sub that has a 12/4 spoke basket...the new one is 13.175...they still use the same dustcap as the old xxx on the 06..lets not take into consideration that it has a new gasket/basket set-up..

How much of that 12.5" is actual cone area though? And same for the new XXX.

I just went out and did some measurements on my 10", and while it has an overall diameter of 10.75", the actual cone area (measured from half of the surround on both sides) is only 7.75".

I'm just curious as to how much different the new XXX is to the old one.

I gotta admit though thats its pretty funny how a 10" sub isn't actually 10" at all, not even close in my case. But yet when we calculate cone area, we use 5" as the radius when it should be more like 3.75-4". Oh well.
