you could be clipping the signal if you are getting the coil to stink up or even because the sub is in a sealed enclosure which is cutting it's thermal rating down.(don't take my word for it)

as for your voltage get an alt. running 2600 on a stock alt should of been a no no from the beginning untill you had proper voltage.

Oh im aware its a no no but im cheap and saving for a new car and I dont want to spend the money on this one if im just gonna get rid of it if you know what I mean.

yep, just be easy on it. if you have a voltage meter and can be aware of your voltage most of the time when you bump just find a volume to where your voltage isn't dropping too low.

here's a question, does your amp get hot as hell sometimes from bumping for a long period of time at a moderately high volume level?

Ive got a cap from when I knew nothing about car audio hooked up and it has a volt meter I also have one on the head unit through the pioneer vehicle dynamics processor thing and honestly ive never checked the temp on the amp but the next time im out I will see how hot it gets.

The voltage likes to drop to the 11's and if im really cranking 10's but ive tried to keep it out of that range because the amp will go into protect if I push it hard for very long.

You need to do one of two things.

1) Upgrade the electrical with a 2nd battery or alternator

or

2) Turn the amp down so it doesn't draw so much current.

I've seen lots of bad things happen when people try to run a lot of power on a stock electrical system.

nice install. They're fun subs....I have one, it's a low end monster for sure, try a larger box for even more low end

one way to maybe fix that voltage is some better grounds and another battery like a SP1000 or kinetik 800 that would at least keep voltage much better for 10-20 seconds full cranking.

Mine smelled for a little while especially breaking it in a louder volumes. It did get clipped a bit in the the beginning I didn't realize the gain to amount of voltage it was drooping to. smell went away when i fixed the droop and gave the amp a cleaner signal.

ps. does your make a airy mechanical noise when playing? Kind of like its not sealed in the box when it actually is? Mine does and it pisses me off beyond belief lol

Yeah maybe in a month or 2 Ill buy a new alt Im feeling poor now cuz I just bought a brand new headunit. adas do you have any pics of your install and thanks for the info Its good to hear from someone who has the same sub

god **** that is a beautiful install. what do you do if you get a flat tire though? thats my main reason for not going all out in the looks category.
