'06 Jeep Wrangler install challenges

I dunno about the newest one...but I've looked at my buddies 2k4.

You're gonna have to do quite a bit of work to get some decent midbass in the stock location. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif.

Also, is it a soft or hard top?

Now you're thinking!
Good choice on the amp, if you have the money go with either that one or a Diamond. both are solid. The power should be great for both the sub and the components. Another idea to think about further down the road is going with an active 2- or 3-way system, where instead of using the passive crossovers, you use an external unit and amp each driver independently.
They sell Diamond amps there as well. What's the concensus here? Diamond or Alpine PDX? My last system was active using Audio Control equipment and an experimental box from Orion. I really don't mind passive x-overs as long as they use quality components.

True dat! I have a soft top. I may buy a hardtop soon.

Well I've come full circle. System is sounding great. I went with the following:

5.25" Diamond Audio D6 comps in stock dash location. Tweeters floating over the middle of the mids.

Infinity Kappa 5.25" coax in overhead soundpods scaled back for rear fill only. (Powered by HU internal amp.)

Pioneer 780 HU set on 80/80 crossover points for F&R HPF and rear sub. BBE, loudness and time correction off. EQ set on flat.

Rear Alpine E-series 12" sub in 1.25 cu ft sealed enclosure.

Alpine PDX 4.150 powering whole system.

4 guage power and ground cable.

The soundstage is right infront of you and very vivid. This system excels at vocals, rock and blues.

Going to add Monster 1 Farad cap, Dynamat and larger battery.

Should I even say it?

Don't run the cap. The extra battery should be more than enough.

Personally, if you like alpine that much you should have just got on ebay and bought a type-r for 130 or whatever they go for shipped.

Badass HU I must say. Nice choice.

Overall dude, that is a pretty good setup. Nice job.

Thanks. I'm actually not adding an extra battery. I'm just replacing the stocker with an Optima red top.

I love the Type R, but I wanted to stick with one 4 channel amp. The Type R needs alot more juice to do it justice. The Type E fit the bill better and plays nice for my needs.

I had an Alpine at first but quickly began to dislike the audiophile type sound. Musicality is my goal here.

And how did you manage running that amp to the whole setup? Sub and all?
Read again. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I'm running the rear fill with the HU internal amp. Channels 3&4 of the Alpine amp are bridged to the sub.

ah nice, those diamonds should have a RAF on them (rear acoustic fill) stick your rears on those and see if it sounds any better
Not sure what you're suggesting here. I tried running the Diamond D6 5.25" components in dash with no rear fill and they are too thin sounding. I even polyfilled the area around and behind the D6's. I already had Infinity Kappas in sound pods on rollbar, so I just faded back to them a bit and the sound filled out nicely. Maybe you're suggesting Diamonds as rear fill to replace the Infinitys? I've considered doing this and jumping up to 6.5" D6 Comps for rear fill, but I have one concern. The rear sound pods sit above and just behind the driver's and passenger's heads. They can become overwhelming pretty easily. It's just rear fill, so is a better speaker really needed? I could sure use the fuller sounding 6.5's, but I'd rather they were up front. ????

no no no theres an output for "rear acoustic fill" (RAF) on the diamond cross overs. try running your rear speakers off of this output on the cross overs instead of the head unit. try it and see if you like it better

No kidding? I'll have to check that out. This will negate the front to rear fade feature though. Thanks!
