04 Type R amp suggestions

My buddy just got 2 04 Type R 12's, dual 4 ohm. I've heard that the older ones are not as underrated (in terms of power handling) as the new ones. So I'm thinking that about 800 watts would be good for him? What would you suggest for $400 or less what would do around good power @ 1 ohm or 4 ohm?

tell him to buy my kicker sx 1250.1 then he will have plenty of power but he can upgrade subs down the road. I was pushing 2 jl 12w6v2's off of it. Just watch the gains.

My local shop is an authorized Kicker dealer and would sell him a KX1200.1 for around $550 or something like that. I was trying to talk him into that, but I think he'd prefer something a little cheaper. Where could I find a 1200d brand new, and not on ebay?

Thats way too much for a kx they are not that good, the sx is much better and does more power. Mine is in great shape and it does have a warrenty on it. Check my refs I dont bs around.And I can do it alot cheaper then what you were looking at for the kx lol. I got pics and stuff and theres always some people selling new kx's around if you look on other audio sites. Just always check for refs. Make sure there legit refs as well.
