02 gm door panels

on an 02 gm sierra is it possible to fit 6.5's behind the factory speaker cover, also if not what components do you reccomend? I hav a set of MB Quarts 6.5 from my other truck i was hoping to use.

Is it a work truck, or higher model? If it's LS or LT, you should be able to. My `03 has 6.5" components in it from factory. They **** and are being replaced, but it does have them and room for aftermarket ones. Does your door panel have the metal grill that is real long and kind of angled? If so, you're probably good. If you have the one where it just looks like they cut slits in the plastic door panel in the shape of a round speaker, then I'm not sure.

its an SLE, and ya its got that long angled metal grill. Looking through it at an angle looks like theres 2 speakers in there, but not sure. Im sure its the same as the 03 though so good to go i hope, did you attempt to pull that grill off? or pull the panel off? Thanks. Also do you have a double din? deck? or did you find a nice insert somewhere? Thanks

yes ou can fit 6.5's in the stock hole.

as for taking the dor panel off.

you take the door lock that moves back and forth off. to see a 7 mill bolt

look under teh door pull handle in the middle corner there is another 7 mill bolt.

near the door jam there should be a plastic clip that pulls out,.

on the top near teh a pillar on the door that triangle pice comes off.,

after that the door lifts up and out.

Here's what you want for how to take off the door panels. Don't bother trying to remove the grills unless you intend to build some pods on the panel or something. Azbass pretty much nailed it, but here's instructions with pics. They changed a couple of bolts here and there between the different years.

As for HU, I started to go for a double din. Couldn't find much I liked, though. Almost bought one of the Kenwood DPX-701's. But I ended up going with a Pioneer 880PRS. Now, currently I have a plain adapter kit, but I'm thinking of getting something from this guy.

BTW, in an 02, I believe you have a 1.5din. I think they went to 2 din in 03.
