02 Cadillac DHS Install Problem

A friend of mine was talking to me today and a shop installed the radio in his 02 caddy, i think hes got the pioneer p4000 double din unit, and from what he was explaining they used an adapter harness, but also completely hardwired all the speakers in the car (bypassed factory amps) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif. He says the radio works fine but now the fuel gauge, water temp, oil gauge, etc. Doesnt work anymore. I know with some caddys you have to extend the harness for 5 data wires and keep the factory radio in the truck for that reason i think. Could someone clarify on this for me? I told him id do some research and see what i can find out about the car.
