How do I know what my stock amps are on the stock alternator?

I'm getting dimming on lights, running @ 1000w RMS.

OK, did some researching, Google = ftw.

I found out my alt is only 80 amps. Good lord, why wonder. So I found this alt online, is this a good quality one?

dunno if the 4cyl is a 3.0L engine but i found this one on ebay for cheaper and does around 200amps at 1200rpm 105 at idle...dont know much about them but they have a lot of feedback

hmm, thanks, but no ebay for me. btw, I have the 2.3L engine.

You sure it's 80A? I checked mine when I had it and it was a 90A alt.

I got my alt from http://www.qualitypowerauto.com

It was roughly $300 and was benched at 167A. Another member here has a 200A Excessive Amperage alt and hasn't had any problems. Don't worry too much about the dimming, check your voltage when cranking the system and see what it's doing.

Well, all the OEM replacement ones for my 2.3L 4cyl has 80amp Alts.

I'm just gonna go with that one I found for $249. 150amps, 105amps idle.

I have the 3.0 v6 and when I had a zx750.1 hooked up, I had dimming but nothing major.

Volt droppage was around 13flat. Not bad I must say.

Also with a Sundown SAZ1500D, volt droppage was only 12.5ish. Still not bad.

Just cause your lights dim, doesn't mean its a horrible thing. I only dims from the change in voltage.

Your gonna have a dim with any alt you put in really.

Really?, what, I thought thats why everyone goes to highouput alts, is to solve dimming issues?

So it would be a waist of time/money to replace my stock alt?
