01 Civic trunk help

So its been quite some time and Im finally doing another real build. Running two SounDrive SDA3 12's. Had one in the trunk facing the trunk on 500 at 2 ohms. As of today I have two in the trunk facing forward on ~ 300 @ 4 ohms. This is where I need some input: It was much louder with the one 12 facing the rear. I have not sealed anything off yet. Any input as to why its so much quieter? I expected it to be at least the same as it was with the single 12 facing the rear.

Equipment specs:

2 - SounDrive SDA3 d1

1 - Alpine MRV 500

They are each in separate enclosures that are the same. 2.33 ft tuned to ~ 30hz 31-32 inches of port

Need more power would be my guess. If your not overpowering them by 20%, then your underpowering them

Thats what Im guessing now. I took them out and played one at a time ( although facing the rear) at 2 ohms and each one played much better than the two together. I also tried with both facing the rear and it didn't change at all from both facing forward. I didn't think dropping 200 ish watts would make that much of a difference, although it maybe more from rise with two coils rather than just one.

Double your power and seal off your trunk subs forward and you will love it. Trust me when it comes time to seal it off remember approximately 20+ cans of spray foam will do the job There is another thread here about a sealed off civic running Sundowns and man was it loud 2-12's 1.4k watts and at 14.5V

I just dropped the amp to 1 ohm and its a little better but not much ( alpine limits power at 1 ohm since its not really stable there). I left the gain where I had set it for 4 ohms so I'm not sure if its clipping or not. I do not have an oscope. Played it for about 15 min though and it didn't get hot or protect and the subs were cool so idk, it maybe rising enough. Ill be throwing 4-6k at them eventually and will be sealed off with foam.
