    No power to the amp

Ok so I hooked the amp up to my connections and it got power and turned on when my radio turned on. Then I hooked up his power and ground, bridged a small wire from the Remote terminal to the power and we got power to the amp when the vehicle was off. Next I took his blue/white from the head...

    No power to the amp

So today I hooked up my friends new head unit and his amp and then when we turned on the car the power light to the amp wouldn't come on. Thinking it might just be a bad amp, its a boss, its old, and he got it used, but in case its not its an 89' deville 4 door and had the factory stereo in it...

    Compatibility question

Alright thanks. What about the power wire running to the amp? What gauge would be best for us to run? We've got roughly 18 feet of car to cover.

    Compatibility question

So I told my friend I'd help hook up his amp, and subs in his car as I've done it once before so therefor I must be the expert on car audio. He bought a used amp off of someone and then purchased 2 subs The amp is a Boss 850 Chaos Monoblock Max power @ 2 OHM: 850W x 1 RMS power @ 4 OHM: 200W...

    signal sense turn on

I have a kenwood KAC-8105D which says it has signal sense turn on. When I connect the rcas from my line output converter to the line in jacks on my amp though I turn the key and the amp won't come on. I have the power wire ran and connected and the ground is on a good solid bare metal spot...

    rca

My LOC only has 2 jacks or whatever though...So would I only plug 1 rca from the amp to there then run then plug into the LOC and run it to the volume control? Because that would leave like 3 unused jacks on the volume control and amp both.

    rca

Ok I'm tryin to figure out how to run my rca's...I've got the amp, which has 2 line ins and 2 line outs, 2 for the right and 2 for the left. And since I didn't replace my head unit I have a line output converter with 2, one left and one right. And then I have a volume control with 2 inputs and...

    Line output converter

Anyone? Pretty much the only thing holding me back right now is I have no clue what "connect the brown wires to ground only if there is no sound from the amplifier."

    Gain?

Ya I'm using 2 subs that are 4 ohms each, but you go by the impedance of the amp then, not the subs?
  10. T

    Gain?

Alright cool, but as far as the target level for the gain, using some formula i found online says, the square root of the, Power Dissipation (watts) X Resistor Value (ohms), and that's the voltage I want it to read on the meter when I'm tuning the amp? So the power dissipation would be 300 watts...

    Gain?

Back with another question... Bout to hook my amp up and have been reading up on setting the gain... And again, I'm extremely new to this car audio stuff, but on the amp, there is a Bass Boos level (db), LPS Frequency (hz) and a Input Sensitivity(v). Which one of these is the gain exactly...

    Amp power

So will it even power my subs and will the 8 gauge and fuse work for it? Sorry for all the questions, new to this stuff and just won't want anything to blow up or catch on fire.

    Amp power

Or well, looking at the manual for the amp it says.. Max Power Output 1000w Rated Power Output (+B=14.4v) (4ohms) (20 Hz-200Hz, (2ohms) (100Hz, The subs I'm wiring both have an impedance of 4 ohms and need 300 watts, so will the amp only be putting out 600 watts of power?

    Amp power

I might get away with 8? So in other words I might also set my car on fire??? I mean the amp says 1000 watts, and the wiring kit is for 600 amps... Is the amp really going to be putting out 1000 watts?

    Amp power

I have a Kenwood KAC-8105D, on the box it says max power 1000 watts. The place I bought all my stuff from said that this soundquest SQ600xb 8 gauge wire kit would be able to hook it all up. Now that I've done a bit of reading I found out this kit is for amps up to 600 watts. Is it going to be...
