So today I hooked up my friends new head unit and his amp and then when we turned on the car the power light to the amp wouldn't come on.
Thinking it might just be a bad amp, its a boss, its old, and he got it used, but in case its not
its an 89' deville 4 door and had the factory stereo in it with this wiring
1989 Cadillac Deville Sedan Car Audio Wiring Guide
Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Orange
Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Yellow
Car Radio Ground Wire: Black
Car Radio Illumination Wire: Gray
Car Stereo Dimmer Wire: Brown
Car Stereo Antenna Trigger Wire: Pink
Car Stereo Amp Trigger Wire: N/A
Car Stereo Amplifier Location: N/A
Car Audio Front Speakers Size: 4″ x 6″ Speakers
Car Audio Front Speakers Location: Dash
Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Tan
Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Gray
Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Light Green
Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Dark Green
Car Audio Rear Speakers Size: 6″ x 9″ Speakers
Car Audio Rear Speakers Location: Rear Deck
Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Brown
Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Yellow
Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Dark Blue
Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Light Blue
The head unit he bought is a Pioneer DEH 15MP
The head unit turns on ran and static comes through each speaker (not sure where to connect the pink antenna wire from the car to the wiring harness with the pioneer head unit)
And I connected the blue/white from the new head unit to the REM cable running from the amp.
I have the power from the amp to the battery, going through the fuse, have the grounds for both the head unit and amp to bare metal, and even put a new fuse in the amp. But when we turn the key on we still get nothing from the amp...Not sure if the amp itself is bad or if I messed up on the REM cable going to the head unit.
Wiring guide for the head unit says Blue/White "Connect to system control terminal of the power amp or auto-antenna relay control terminal (max. 300 mA 12 V DC)
Should that instead be connected to the "Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Yellow" coming from the car?
I figured I would ask you guys before undoing the connections on my amp and hooking his up to see if it was just a bad amp or not.
If anyone could shed any light I'd appreciate it
