I have a Type R 10 in a small sealed box. It sounds really nice, and tight, but even at full power I wouldnt say its a spl monster or nothing. A ported box could be another story.

Thinking about running 1 400.1 into a 4 ohm dvc 10 inch Type R. Enough, or do I need more? Also any comments on any of the Alpine Type R series and PG amps would be nice.

If you want more power, buy a bigger amp. Besides that Ive seen some 3ohm Audiobahn and Digital Audio stuff, and Orion had a 2 or 3 ohm set. But honestly it would be easier and probably cheaper to buy an amp.

A quality 5.25 should perform well. Your highpass xover will generally need to be set higher in comparison with a quality 6.5. Trade offs CAN be better midrange extension and detail, rather than midbass response. Auras are not bad speakers by any means. I would go with them before I did...
