    Advice on Sound System Install!

Burgo is your total budget $150, or is the $150 for one component? As you know mate, over here stuff is dearer, or we buy from the US and pay the freight, but $150 is not going to buy much either way.

    Power cable & distribution

In the end I went for the 4 gauge Rockford kit. It is comprehensive - speaker wire & distro blocks that other kits don't have, and the shipping cost was better than KnuKonceptz to Australia, so I saved there too. Total cost delivered to me was the same as the Knu kit, with the extra gear in...

8 gauge wire into 4 gauge on amp?

No need to fuse just before the amps. You can buy a distribution block (if you need one) without fuses. If you are fused at the battery, and using the fuses in the amps then that is enough protection in my opinion.

    putting amp to stock speakers

That 100w amp will need to be run at low power (gain) for your factory speakers. Make sure you start off low before you turn it on. If your 100w is RMS power, then it could be 5 times (a guess) the power the speakers can handle. Turn the gain down before you hook it up, and experiment from there.

    4 Gauge Wire Good Enough?

If you are open to other options, KnuKoncepts & Street Wires both do kits in OFC, a bit cheaper than the one you are looking at. Do some Googling or look at ebay to see a few more options.

My suggestion was based on running the correct amount of power to them. No point in blowing them up.

    4 gauge wiring kit choice.

Thanks for the replies guys. My main concern was quality of any of the RF components, such as an RCA being not much good etc. I knew the cable was good, I just wondered if anything else in the kit was cheap and nasty! As for power needs, I am not a bass head. In fact, I just don't get it!!! I...

    Upgrading a 2000 Ford F-150

My advice is to listen to other peoples car audio to get a feel for what equipment will provide the level of sound you want. If a basic system sounds good to you and is what you want, then no point spending more than you need to. It is also easy to spend good money and end up with poor sound due...

    putting amp to stock speakers

It is likely that the standard speakers are average quality at best, and have low power handling. If this is the case then any gains will be minimal. Having said that, it is also likely you will notice a small improvement by giving them a better power supply over the standard head unit.

    4 gauge wiring kit choice.

In another thread I started I was advised that for my audio system a 4 gauge OFC wiring kit would suffice. I will be powering the following amps: Alpine MRD-M501. 550 watts RMS at 2 ohms. Fused at 60 amps. Boston GT-4100. 400 watts RMS at 4 ohms. Fused at 80 amps. So I have been looking at a...

Newbie. Nakamichi CD 45z-MB Quart pce 216-rce 269=Denon DCA 600 Questions.

My opinion on the head unit is that if your old one was good quality when it was made then it will probably sound just as good as the new one. I had an Alpine HU made in 1993, which I replaced last year with an Alpine CDA117, and the new one sounds no better than the old one, which was Alpine's...

Amp has X2 - 30amp fuses, should I have a 60 amp fuse in my In-line fuse dist. block?

Yeah, I agree you don't need that fuse. Given that it is not needed for circuit protection, it should be the same as the amp fuse. You should have no dramas now.

    Power cable & distribution

I doubt I will run the amps near their maximum. I have been running the same speakers with much less power (old amps) for a long time without any problems. Maybe some 4 gauge OFC will be sufficient for my needs.
