Every box is different as well as woofer. And it depends on frequency as well. This box I have is highly inefficient. My subs recommend 1.6cu. ft. per sub and my box is only .66 per sub. So, yeah. more airspace, more port = less "box rise" as far as all testing I have ever done.

My box rise @ 45hz went from 1.6 to 4ohm. Its a crappy prefab box. I just picked up a crescendo 2 channel, crescendo Mezzo components and a pioneer 80prs today. Next is new box and battery.

I think all te Big 3 wires are in 4 AWG. That should be good right? I hear people doing the big 3 with 4 AWG all the time. My alt and battery reserve should be MORE than enough to power 1000w RMS. At least I would think so right?

I have heard both, A) fuse to the wires amperage rating, and b) fuse about 50% above your alternators rating. After talking to an electronic engineer in my family I opted for option B

Since the sub is so old do you think it would be smart to just do that anyway? I don't want to have to re glue it again later. Any tutorials on doing this? I have never repaired a sub before and shimming a voice coil seems a little risky for me without some help.
