    Gain setting on amp

Its a jbl cs10, I actually have it mounted in between my ski pass as I have convertible I can't hear a box in the boot as the boot is separate from the car, this isn't actually a free air sub but maybe that is why? What is box rise?

    Gain setting on amp

Hey guys I did the method where I calculate the gain to set my amp to using my multimeter. The sub is 125rms at 4ohm and the amp can do 200rms at 4ohm. Now I did the calculation using 125rms and it sounds good but the bass isn't as loud as I like, I feel like my components overpower the sub...

How can I make my sub kick clearer

I did it! I had the amp lpf at 80hz but I switched it so I had it pass through on the amp and limited it on the head unit and now it is crisp and punchy. I also set the gain with a multimeter which helped too No idea why it wasn't as expected when I had the lpf on the amp as I am guessing it...

How to set my gain for a 2 channel amp?

Hi guys so I set my gain using my multimeter for my sub using the normal equation. Now I want to do my 2 channel amp which is set up with 2 component speakers, does the equation change as there are 2 speakers? Each channel is 100rms at 4ohms so do I still just do the square rt of 100x4? Or do I...

How can I make my sub kick clearer

I actually can't have it in the boot, firstly in a bmw convertible it takes up the whole trunk which I don't want but the main reason is because the trunk is separated form the actual car you can't hear it when its in there.

How can I make my sub kick clearer

Kind of yes, you can tell it's to the beat, the low notes are very loud but the mid bass kicks and thumps are there but very quiet compared to everything else and so drowned out in all the low bass. It's almost as if the low bass continues longer than it should each time, instead of a clean hit...

How can I make my sub kick clearer

I had it in a 0.4cubic sealed box when I got it and it was insane low bass but still the kicks at the start of each thump were kind of subdued, the low bass is great and exactly what I want but I want each note to be clear with the thump at the start of each note which is missing currently. On...

How can I make my sub kick clearer

Yep exactly the mid bass kick at the start of each bassy note this is what I am missing, the sub should still do this right even though its mid bass? My speakers do it a bit but nowhere near what I am looking for. See my response to tahoe above for some more information on my current set up thanks

How can I make my sub kick clearer

Is this a T box? I originally had it in a small sealed box, I think it was a 0.4 box but still the actually start of the bass like the kick bit that should hit you hard isn't really there all the low bass is there so its more like each low bass note blends into the next, that part sounds good...

Car lost all power when I wired my second amplifier

Thats kind of what I am asking, why would it cause a spark, I have just added the next power cable on top of the old one (which I never had problems with) and then tightened the bolt back up, should I try a new power lead?   ---------- Post added at 03:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at...

How can I make my sub kick clearer

Hey, I want my sub to thump and kick to the drums and be clear and precise but at the moment I would say its a bit muddy. Its loud for sure but its just not that clear if that makes sense. Instead of being able to clearly make out each individual thud and drum its more like I hear the kicks and...

Car lost all power when I wired my second amplifier

Hey guys, I have one amp running to my front components. Today I wired my second amp for my sub up (it had a seperate ground, spliced into the original remote wire and seperate power leads). Each power lead goes to the positive terminal on the battery as you would expect. I was listening and...

    4ohm vs 2ohm

Okay thanks, I just see lots of diagrams where the amp is connected to one speaker and then that speaker is connected directly to another speaker. I am just planning on wiring one speaker to channel 1 + and - and the other speaker to channel 2 on + and -, I don't need to worry about wiring...

    4ohm vs 2ohm

Hey guys, My amp said it can do 2x2ohm at 80 rms and it can do 2x4ohm at 65w rms. I have bought some speakers that are 4ohm. My question is do I need to do anything special in the wiring so it knows its 4ohm or does the amp figure that out itself and send the relevant power?

Looking to get a new set of component speakers already have an amp but I am confused!

Hi all, I currently have an old amp I used to use in my old car a JBL A602 I want to replace the front components in my car which are 6.5", I don't want to spend too much on speakers but one thing I have read that I am not clear on is you should match or exceed the RMS. As my JBL amp isn't...
