SIR-ALP1 compatibility with 2007/8 Alpine Head Units

Thanks I assumed it would but nowadays it's so often that new stuff requires even more new stuff. I was actually considering going to a double DIN touchscreen setup but after seeing the customization required to make it fit in my 2000 Passat dash, etc etc, the final cost was going to become "...

    Dallas Fort Worth ALPINE IMPRINT

Crutchfield has a $50 rental plan with the Imprint module: http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?search=imprint&i=500KTX100E No idea how it works in terms of paying for shipping, etc, or how long you can keep it ( am guessing they will make you buy the unit and when it is...

SIR-ALP1 compatibility with 2007/8 Alpine Head Units

After considering more extreme options ( changing out my Alpine CDA-9835 head unit soon ), I've decided to stay with Alpine due mostly to budgets ( other hobbies are demanding to be fed too ), needs, and simplicity. I've narrowed the search down to the CDA-9886 or 9887 ( decision will depend...

Alpine Bluetooth module and Blackberry phone

Curious as to what exactly you meant there.. if the Alpine BT adapter is simply prone to problems or if it meant in regards to blackberries, etc. I'm really wanting BT in my car as I'm tired of trying to find my headset and turn the volume down, etc while driving. If the Alpine BT adapter is...

Alpine CDA 9887, Eclipse CD7100.. USB, iPOD, and bluetooth

Not saying this is the case BUT it could simply be a case of having the volume turned up too high. When using my Jabra 350 BT headset ( which uses an open ear design, more comfortable but less shielded ) I have to be very careful to turn the volume down such that the other person isn't hearing...

Alpine CDA 9887, Eclipse CD7100.. USB, iPOD, and bluetooth

Thanks for the link and the time you took preparing the review. Very well done and appreciated. I'm still seeking any information on how well the bluetooth conections work ( ease of use, how well they do what they claim to do, etc ). It sounds like the iPOD features work well though I'm still...

Alpine CDA 9887, Eclipse CD7100.. USB, iPOD, and bluetooth

Thanks for the reminder about the Pioneers. I had stayed away form them in the past mostly because of some friend's experiences which had been less than favorable, and had read the BT did not work as smoothly as I would have wanted. That said, I am open minded and will look over them, so thanks...

Alpine CDA 9887, Eclipse CD7100.. USB, iPOD, and bluetooth

Thanks. I've never had any issues navigating the 9835 menus, etc. though I have no experience with the Eclipses. I *hope* to find an hour or so tomorrow to see if I can locate these units locally though it isn't as easy as it was 15 years ago. I think Crutchfield already has the 9886 though...

Alpine CDA 9887, Eclipse CD7100.. USB, iPOD, and bluetooth

Thanks for the reply regarding the CD5000 and 9887. Have to agree, looks do matter to me ( to a degree ). So do ease of use.. have learned if something is really difficult to use, it usually doens't get used. Am very interested in how well the bluetooth features work as I do want convenient...

Alpine CDA 9887, Eclipse CD7100.. USB, iPOD, and bluetooth

Thanks for the reply and the information. A well spent $0.02 and appreciated. While I am not super anal retentitve when it comes to matching dash lights I must admit that I do like for the lighting to match somewhat closely. Aside from not having bluetooth on my 9835, the loss of the blue...

Alpine CDA 9887, Eclipse CD7100.. USB, iPOD, and bluetooth

I'm currently using an Alpine 9835 which for the most part has worked well for almost 3 years. The blue lighting on the front display buttons is starting to flake out ( which is bad because I am using the blue coloring to nearly perfectly match my Passat dash lighting ). The rest of my system...

    Alpine CDA-9887 Lighting

A while back, the 4 buttons on front ( illuminated ones ) began to drop the blue color on occasion. The blue would go out and I'd be left with a combination of the red and green. This only happened a few times and after a day or so, the blue would return, no issue. Lately, it has begun doing...

    Alpine CDA-9887 Lighting

I was afraid of that! Sounds like aminor step backward from an aesthetic viewpoint but as long as the SQ is good it'll be ok. I may simply run with my 9835 til it crashes and burns but I fear it is getting closer, and in truth I could really use bluetooth in my car.

    Alpine CDA-9887 Lighting

Question for you regarding the lighting.. my dying CDA-9835 had nicely user customizeable lighting to match my VW Passat dash. Does the 9887 offer any customizations regarding the colors of the controls? Thx

    New Alpine Head Unit :)

Catalog lists the 9887 at having 4V pre out voltages. Whether it really is 4V or not is another matter, and time will tell.
