'03 Chevy Cavalier HU Install... $60 Harness?

I want to buy a Pioneer HU for my Cavalier, but sonic electronix is telling me that I need to buy a $60 scosche GM09SR "Select 1999-2005 General Motors Vehicle Radio Replacement Interface with Integrated Chime" for install. The problem is that, aside from the additional $60 bucks, this thing...

What size of sub to buy?

I have an '03 Cavalier, and I don't want to throw my whole trunk away for some gigantic subs. Would it be better for me to get a 12", a 10", or maybe a couple of 8"s in a dual ported box? I am honestly leaning toward the 8s, but could someone compare and contrast the benefits of larger or...

    4-ch amp question

If I were to buy a 4-ch amp for some 6.5" kicker comps up front (rms 60, peak 120) and some 6x9" kicker co-axials in the back (rms 90, peak 270), could I turn the amp down to accommodate the front speakers, or would I be better off just buying separate amps?

    How many pre-outs?

Hey, I'm planning out a new sound system for my stock '03 Cavalier and just want to fully understand how everything would fit together. I don't know yet whether I'd amp the speakers, a sub, or both. But in any case, how many pre-outs would I need? If I were going to use a 4-way amp for the...

    6.5 in 4x6 hole...? Component or co-axial?

Hey, I have an '03 cavalier (stock 4x6 in the front and 6x9 in the back) and have been reading up on several threads where people insist that 6.5's are the way to go up front. But how easy is it to make a 6.5 fit in a 4x6 area? Someone said that you'd need an mdf baffle. Is this just a sort of...

New to car audio stuff... where to start? Tips?

Hey guys, I have a 2003 cavalier (4-door sedan, stock everything, no power anything). It is basically the most plain car that I've ever seen, but I at least want to be able to enjoy some good music in it. Stock, it comes with some 4x6's up in front and 6x9's in the back. I have read numerous...
