Amped Speakers vs. Asmped Sub

Hey,

I'm reading up a lot on car audio, but don't really have any experience. I am planning out a new system for my '03 Cavalier, and am just wondering...

Would my system be improved more my amping all 4 speakers (6.5 comps up front, 6x9's in the back) or by getting a sub with its own amp?

I have some friends with amps on their rear 6x9's and they seem to get some nice bass (compared to mine).

Assuming that I can only do one or the other, which would you recommend?

amp all the speakers and another amp for the sub.2- 10 sin a cavalier can get pretty loud if you make the box right but you will have to boost the power on the speakers too,or you'll have too much bass

i would reccomend amplifying your entire sound stage.

you will have a fuller sound, and yes bass wont be extremely prevalent, but will sound better.

however, you have to account for wiring, amp, possibly door speakers, unless yours are aftermarket already, and more than likely a head unit, which will rack you up a few hundred dollars.

If you are on a tight budget start by getting a 4ch amp and powering your component set with the 2 front channels then bridge the back channels and run those to a sub. Nearly any sub will blow away normal speakers when it comes to bass reproduction.

If you have enough $ then do the 4ch to all of your interior speakers then add another amp for the sub.
