What size of sub to buy?

I have an '03 Cavalier, and I don't want to throw my whole trunk away for some gigantic subs. Would it be better for me to get a 12", a 10", or maybe a couple of 8"s in a dual ported box? I am honestly leaning toward the 8s, but could someone compare and contrast the benefits of larger or smaller sub diameters?

Also, should I make my own box and tune it myself, or could I just buy one of the pre-built ported boxes off of sonic electronix? How much better would a tuned box sound?

Thanks,

Billy

Get 10's. I have 12's and they are a pain in the ass. look up my username and check out my buils logs.

Depends on what you are looking for. 2 12's are a tight fit i can tell you. 2 8's or 2 10's would be good of course in a custom built box. There are box plans available for $1 once you find your sub or subs. To be honest though one good 10 in a good ported box with a proper amp would do nice for you especially on the budget you have. U looking for more of a sq setup or just to get loud? What kind of music do you listen to ?
