Weak link in sound deadening- the tires?

Since every manufacturer touts their tire as the best in "performance with ride comfort," they cannot be trusted. Tire rack's computer system seems to suggest Good Year's ComforTread or Eagle ResponsEdge, but consumer reviews are conflicting, and I don't think most people know what they are...

Weak link in sound deadening- the tires?

I just finished installing 130 feet of Raammat and 7 yards of Ensolite in my doors, fenders, and floor. I also have some edead on my trunk floor from a previous install. While the road noise went down a lot (it was nearly deafening before at times), I know it could still be a lot better. My...

    Bullet Proof Glass Enclosure?!?!?

the sound pressure comes from the cone of the sub moving, FYI. The sealed air inside the box acts as a suspension for the cone so the sub doesn't bottom out, so you want it air tight, with no flex for maximum efficiency (energy is wasted when it is spent flexing a box). I think the glass (more...

Worried about open cell egg crate foam in doors... justified?

and what do you suggest to replace it? I'm having a hard time finding acoustical foam that is closed cell, since it is made to be used indoors... I looked at the wal-mart closed cell egg crate (camping pad). Not gonna use it. It's only 1/2" thick and barely "egg-crated"

Worried about open cell egg crate foam in doors... justified?

I just got finished mounting my Rainbow CMX kick mids in my doors. I thoroughly deadened the door with Raammat, and right behind the speaker I used some open cell egg crate foam that I brought home from work. I bought the fabric sealer for camping (camping section at Wal-mart, I think it is a...

SRS Airbag seat question- Honda Accord...

I currently have my airbag seats out and my battery disconnected. I need to drive this week and I will resume my install next weekend. Can I bolt my driver's seat back in and not reattach the airbag connectors? (both seats will be disconnected, it is a 2 door). I don't want the airbag system...

    car audio schools

spend a few months reading this forum, and keep practicing and building custom installs and enclosures. Keep a portfolio of your work, and when it is impressive enough, take it around to shops and get hired! A local community college probably offers an electronics certificate that will teach...

    Remove rear 6x9s?

I am running some nice frontstage and a sub, and will not be using my rear 6x9s. Is it best to take them out so some bass can escape from the trunk? Are there any considerations to doing this? My car is a 2003 Accord 2 door, FWIW...

Relay needed for remote wire for two amps?

I only have two amps, can I get away with splicing the remote wire into two? Or do I need a relay? My head unit is an 880prs. If I need a relay, can someone tell me which one would be appropriate (from Ratshack) and how to wire it? Thanks!!!

Help!? Need box plans for 15'' SX

I can't help you design the box, but I have a 15" SX sitting in my garage collecting dust. It's in a 4.0 box tuned to 29 hz and it sounded amazing. It did particularly well on the low notes; the kind of notes southern rap likes to use. Double baffle is always a good idea, but it depends how...

LADES Street MAX 3-4 Build Log

I have a question- with the two mounting holes for the bottom two subs touching, how do you plan to mount the subs? Won't the mounting "lips" overlap?

CAL26 titan tweeter shutting off - Phase Plug set, ideas??

I once had water in my crossover that caused the same problem with a passive set (not Rainbow.) I'm sure you would have noticed water when you switched up the crossovers, but just throwing it out there.
