DD audio's marketing "baffle 'em with bullsh!t"

I found it to be pretty amusing. I sense lots of Satirical humor. "The new Z Series woofers have more Watts than any speakers we have ever built, so many Watts they got, that we thought of using a new slogan, Got Watts?, but that's lame so we didn't. We tried to measure the exact amount of...

    Tubes vs enclosed subs

The tube isn't bad is not a bad design , its great for small space. The problem comes form most of them being loaded with sub par amps and drivers. if you search eBay you can find tube enclosures but since you only have 6" at the bottom you might not be-able to fit a tube back there. eather way...

    An idea about DMM tuning

Sort answer ..No Long answer The waveform dose not suddenly go square wave, Even when well into clipping you can still get AC content. This image is when i clamping my MB ref1.800 note the RMS reading on the top of the meter, its AC coupled. Note the 5volt difference. A DMM will only...

Setting gain *yes I read the sticky*

Pretty sure you need a load on the amp, becasue that will change what the amp is capable of putting out. To me using a DMM only makes sense if you intend on only burping, becasue your amps power out will differ across frequency, and you sub is an "impedance" not a resistance therefor it changes...

    Modelled some Subs in WinISD

I only use winisd in relative fashion. Just to get a rough idea of freq response of a sub in an enclosure. I never use the spl function be cause different companies sometimes rate their sensitivity differently.

    2 SA-8's vs Single 12" type R

Exactly this. Iv never used a meter or a scope. Iv always used the method you described to set a do not exceed point, Then the tuning is done by ear.

    2 SA-8's vs Single 12" type R

With test tones its pretty noticeable most of the time. There are really cheap o scopes out there that are than good enough for the task, even still i understand its not in everyone budget but that doesn't make it ok to use a DMM. As said before when a sub is being excited its impedance...

    2 SA-8's vs Single 12" type R

I don't get the dmm method. Subs are not a stable impedance. Calibrating to 4 /2/1 ohms means nothing because your subs will be all over the place when playing music. If you setting a full range amp and a sub amp the levels can be way out of wack and sound like crap. A dmm wont show clipping...

What subs to buy. 12'', i have 1200 watt 1 ohm stable amp

It is , but he dos't have the space for 2 12s ported so people are suggesting he go 2 10s ported. OP I would suggest 1 12 ported. you may loose some overall output but what you gain in low end frequency extension may be worth it.

    Ever heard of audiobahn AW1500Q?

I pounded the hell out of a set of aw1200qs for years with no problem until i sold them to a friend then i had a aw1206q for a few years with no issues.

Never mind .those are possibly external
