Amplifier recommendations for a 15" Kicker L7R

Hey guys,

I finally made up my mind and ordered a 15" Kicker L7R subwoofer to replace the midgate on my 09 avalanche. I ordered the 4 ohm version but I don't understand how to match up an amplifier for it. I haven't decided between a sealed or ported box yet but its power recommendation is 900 watts rms. I was going to order the Kicker CX-800.1 amp but it says it produces 300 watts @ 4 ohms. Unless I'm completely not understanding how it works would I really need to order the CX-1800.1 amp thats rated for 900 watts @ 4 ohms?

I was originally hoping to keep the sub + new 6.5'" mids up front around the 1200~ watt rms range so I won't have to upgrade the electrical.

Thanks for any help!

If it's a dual 4ohm it most likely be wired up for a 2 ohm final load

When looking for an amp look at the 2 ohm ratings ideally 900 to 1500 watts will suit you well
Personally I prefer an amp that puts out more than rms of my woofer so I'm not pushing the amp near clipping

The cx1800 that Espinosa recommended would be suitable but 1 downside is undefeatable subsonic filter at 25hz
If you plan to run sealed you may not get great performance down to 20hz
But that would be up to you and the music you play i suppose
