That tariff paid to customs goes where lil buddy?
Here, let us make it more understandable for Stroker Ace and RobGMN. The Chinese government wants to sell the United States some precious metals for $10,000,000,000. The U.S. likes the price and they want the deal. Sadly there is a 125% tariff on Chinese imports. Guess what is going to happen. They would have to give the United States the precious metals for free plus $2,500,000,000. If I was China, I'd be pissed too.

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Still doesn't understand it.

I hear ya fella. Weird I thought that I have said a dozen times the US importer pays the tariff. I guess you missed it every damn time.
Cool.
Post screenshots of SIX of the times where you said the US importer pays the US import tariffs.

So, I buy a bike direct from the mfgr in China, and it gets shipped here.
But I'm not the importer.
Interesting.

Nobody is getting "hung up on the language". Tariffs dissuade domestic companies or individuals from buying from a country with a tariff imposed.....because the domestic company or individual will have to pay a tariff to get it into the country.

Thx has repeatedly claimed that the exporter pays the tariff. That's incorrect no matter how many ways you twist the statement.
Except the exporter can pay the tax. I'll brimg up these example one more time. I know a furniture retailer who kept his retail prices and he split the tariff with his Chinese manufactures. I guess technically he probably cut the check to the IRS or customs, but in essence the manufacturer was footing 1/2 the bill and end consumer didn't pay any of tariff.

The exporter could technically indirectly help pay by lowering their price to the importer. But that's very rarely how it works. Especially when talking about goods coming from a country like China.....where margins are already low to a point where they can't realistically charge much less.

The facts here haven't changed. The tariff is collected when the products come to the United States port. And when the tariff hasn't been paid, customs doesn't notify the exporter. It's the importer who has the responsibility to pay the tariff, or else the products that they purchased sit in a warehouse.

I doubt China's margins are that low. China has been creating a shyt ton of wealth and billionaires.
