Hertz Mille pro. Vs Focal flax

I like the K2s, but they are overpriced IMHO. Demoing in a car is better than on a sound board, but each car affects sound differently. If the guy is an award winning sound competitor, then of course his car will sound awesome. But keep in mind he's not going to spend months geeking and tweeking you system and IMHO, that's were most of the gains are.

It wasn’t his nice Lexus as that was down due to alternater failure but the Lexus has M2’s in it also…
it was just his mid 2000 full size Chevy work truck…
But, yes, award winning….

Not paying retail…
That’s one thing I learned going to all these shops…

Given the trophy collection, I'm sure he has his work truck dialed in too. If you're willing to pay what he charges to install and tune, then I'd go with this guy. Like I said I think install is more important than equipment. If he's at a shop selling Focal, then I'd probably just go with the Focals.

For rears I'd just do 2-3" wideband if you're gonna do them...they'll be dialed down so the sound stage doesn't get drawn to the rear anyways

Yeah, need to figure that out & open to all suggestions..
He did state he’s definitely recommending “rear fills” but don’t need k2’s there…
So no idea at this point.
In this truck, high back seats & door speakers are so low….
Not sure if it’ll really make a difference…

With small drivers as rear fill you can put them in a good pods and mount them higher and more on axis. You'd get the most out of your rearfill that imo

I hate that location. It pulls the soundstage both down and back and is very obvious.

So going with the focal k2 3 way with the frak tweeter.
Mid will be mounted in the dash.
Put the tweeter in the factory a pillar location & get it somewhat on axis?
Or
Get these pedestal mounts & really have them on axis?
Could mount over the tweeter grill, or on the panel by the side view mirror, above the door panel….
The installer did say he can easily fab something but he also commented he liked the mount….

I'm not familiar with that tweeter, but past focal tweeters tended to sound best crossfiring in the a-pillars off-axis. For best results you should test different locations and aimed on or off axis.

Install will be more important than brand, all things being equal is a myth. Its never the same as install/staging/deadening and tuning are what dials it in imho.
Esoteric hi-dollar brands sprinkled with unicorn dust won't top a well thought out and executed install.

Focal tech support is stating these sound best on axis as much as possible, that's where they shine...

Maybe, but in a car you have lots of reflections and being on axis can introduce nasty reflections that there is no way to account for until you start experimenting in the car.
I dropped it off at the shop on Friday....
I received a personal phone call from Nick Wingate as my installer was picking his brain about these flak tweeters.
I just happen to also call Focal support & Nick put 2 / 2 together & called me directly...
Gave me a brain massage on tweeter position in regards to the stock a pillar locations...
Nick doesn't seem to think that the pods will do a whole lot for me to make it worth it.
Installer said he was going to have a listen to them in the truck before making a final determination of mounting position......
His thoughts were tweak them in the stock a pillar mounts a put them on access as best as he can if they actually do sound best in that position.
Had no idea who Nick was / background, at the time of the call.....
Just some guy that works for Focal......

See what we end-up with...
Im confident Skip at StreetNoyz will make the system sound amazing..
