Ok So I just purchased a 2024 Durango with the base audio, 6 speaker system, 10 inch head unit and basic eq, base, mids, treble, front has 2 tweeter in the door pillars and 2 6x9 in the doors, the rear has 2 6 x3/4 in the doors but can be upgraded 5 1/4 to 6 1/2 with adapters. I can find speakers to fit would like alpine but can only find them for the front but not the rears. Installing the speakers will be easy.
My real question is do I absolutely have to have an additional AMP. I know that in order to drive the new speakers to get the best sound I will need an amp. I understand with the system I have I would need a 4 channel amp. If I do the AMP I will assume I should also do a SUB but only want one that would fit on one side or the other in the back on the SUV, AMP and Sub could fit in the hidden spot in the cargo area underneath the floor at the very back.
Question if I install the new speakers and not the amp, can I expect the system to sound better with out the amp? My concern is the AMP wiring with all the new tech in these new SUV. Additionally, not wanting to spend a lot of money on the upgrade. My Camaro that I traded in had the factory Bose and my wife's RAM has the apline system and sound great. Not looking to be the "best" just sound better than it does now.
