How can CarAudio.com be better?

  • It’s fine the way it is!

  • Site design is terrible. Change it.

  • Site is hard to use.

  • Site loads too slow.

  • Other. I’ll tell you below in the comments.

For the short time I have been here, which is about 9 months, I have noticed a lot of people come in, ask a few questions about products preference, then never return. Having product discounts, product reps, and more than just a place for tech tips, I believe would draw people back.

How about a quick access tab, at the top of the home page, for custom install pics? Searching for stuff, in any forum, is a pain in the a$$.
Custom install pics as in the gallery we’ve had for years? No one has posted install photos to it since last year I believe. June 13 2023 to be exact. That’s why I created the installs forum.

I'm for your ideas, but we need more visitors to make it happen Im afraid. I've found new members join, post their question, get their answer and leave. Then our Hawaiian expert on anything and everything adds his superb knowledge to the pot. Still not convinced it's not a bot.

I see someone voted the site loads too slow? Anyone else seeing this? I've went to great lengths to see that the site loads properly and quickly, but maybe I don't see the full picture. Google severely punishes slow loading sites also.

Idk how this could be implemented or even if possible. Could a subsection in enclosure design be created for members to post actual designs in?
A section broken up by driver size searchable by enclosure type. I'd specify no hand drawn designs to make this a go-to resource for people looking for anything from basic sealed to multiple driver order hi order designs. A sticky stating ea driver should be designed for specific to the vehicle etc and advising the viewer to seek out professional installation advice when planning a system as a whole etc.
Im sure my idea could be improved so any members thoughts would be great.

For my part I'd contribute one design ea week to the section, I have thousands with cut sheets plus mechanical drawings.

Maybe make membership a prerequisite to view? A online resource like that should increase views plus membership.

Thoughts?

Edit*... Just by searching previous posts by certain members this idea may be able to hit the ground running as there should be at least a few designs already posted. That may let the forum start this section with some sort of a database right away. I would supply 10 initially to help out as well if asked.

I think I posted an example in the last L7 box thread in subwoofers.

Hopefully the google lawsuit will bring more foot traffic. I know you mentioned they heavily favored Reddit which I noticed it all searches. Have you ever checked with other search engines like DuckDuckGo?

My screen loads pretty fast.

As for people that give good advice, is there a banner, or something noticeable, you can add to someone's name that states they are known to provide trusted info, and a banner for those that have not shown to be provide good info? Something like "Trusted Knowledge," and "Unproven Knowledge?" And for the Hawaiian expert, it can be "Useless Knowledge."

Also, with the install pics, how about having some in the background. Then newbies can see what we do and that we are not just a bunch of backyard installers who read car audio mags like it's ****.

I like the idea and many thanks for offering to help out. Is everyone is favor of creating a new sub-forum for this, or just a sticky thread within the enclosure forum?

A while back I implemented the view likes feature, where you can see a member’s likes, dislikes, thanks, etc. When a member receives a lot of good feedback, they receive a star beside their name, sort of like a verification badge. When a member who clearly is clueless joins and spurts bad info, they may get a different banner…

Let’s hope they go under. They are a huge reason why this site’s traffic has dipped. But as usual in these large settlements, they will have to pay a hefty fine, equivalent to us paying a parking ticket and will proceed on about their unscrupulous ways. They only care about censoring and keeping their stock price as high as possible.

This site search listings on all other searches I’ve checked are doing just fine. Google just wants to push Reddit and the large network forums.

I'd like to see a new sub forum myself, that way it would be easier to search.
I tried to reach out messaging and have some additional thoughts.
They may be helpful.
As the enclosure design section is it's kinda a free for all. Maybe limit the addition of designs to be submitted thru someone so only designs get posted.
