So with all the concern with copper this and copper that, why are basically all fuse blocks that go in between the main wire from the battery to the Amp why are basically all of them not made out of copper and made from much cheaper material? Let's say you have all ofc wire, copper lugs, but then an aluminum fuse block wouldn't the fuse block just negate all that extra money spend on having copper everything else? Maybe I'm missing something but I just see the cheap material of the fuse block being the weakest link in the chain right? Does it not matter what material the fuse blocks are made from for some reason? Interested in hearing any opinions on any of this!

Most fuse block are nickel plated brass. So fairly conductive. And you also have to figure the fact that the electricity is traveling a very short distance through a fairly large chunk of metal. As long as the resistance is near null it shouldn't even heat up.

Alot of people go overboard on the all copper parts. Yes copper carries current very well by mass but aluminum of large enough mass will carry the same amount of current.

You can find copper fuse holders but then you have to worry about corrosion on them under the hood

Very helpful and well put. I was just trying to learn something and ask in general and find out if I was thinking about it wrong or there was something I was missing. What mostly got me wondering this is I just got a new amp wiring kit from sky high and its all beautiful 1/0 ofc wire complete with copper lugs and all but then the What I thought was aluminum fuse block lol just didn't make any sense to me. Thank you for your reply man.

Don’t worry about asking questions. It’s how we learn. What is the saying…
The only foolish question is the question that goes unasked
Something like that.
I am a newb and am pretty sure I’ll be asking lotta questions some might be foolish newb questions. I’ll probably get ripped on by some for it. No biggie. I’ve a thick skin.

I still get Ripped from time to time. I still will ask basic questions. Yet, Learning and getting some answers from those that have experienced with hands on is what I enjoy most. There are always new techniques and ideas that can be learned from and used to make things easier and work just as well. But, I will and have argued at times from my own experiences that one deems faulty without trying or have done themselves. Im prob one of the oldest people on his site.. Been around Car Audio since the late 80s, But.. Im still Learning.

I am getting back into car audio. After MANY years away. I figure this go around. I want to do as much as possible. I went to a shop in LA years ago. They BUTCHERED the install.
I’m looking at some videos on YouTube. I think it’s Car Audio Fabrication. Interesting to say the least. I’m learning some. Hopefully an old dog can learn new tricks.

And the question is?
