Can anyone explain to me how mounting a mid-range angled upward to each side of the center console would affect the sound stage? Thinking about placing a set of versa pods there to offset the door speaker.

I'm thinking like this for example.

Thanks in advance

It would drastically affect how high the sound stage is as well as left right balance

Time alignment might could fix some of that but it would require separate time alignment for the driver and passenger side.

Honestly I wouldn't do that unless you just want louder highs and don't care about sound stage.

It's going to seriously throw off your staging and probably narrow it as well. Ideally you want the speakers playing the bulk of your vocals/instruments as wide as possible and in opposite corners.

Thanks appreciated. I'm gonna mount in kick pods. Looking for putty or something to attach these two pieces together. I'm thinking of trying in weld plastic putty. Once they're together I can sand and paint to match. I know zero about fiberglass so if there's anything else besides that I appreciate a heads up.

How difficult is that to use though? This is my first time ever trying anything like this.
Not difficult. Cover the item in material like fleece, secure the material so that it is taunt then brush on the sunflash (resin) coating and soaking the fleece. Take out into the sun to cure. After it is fully cured you can fill in imperfections with bondo (body filler) it doesn't take a lot, let it cure, sand it smooth. Cover it in material (leather, cloth, vinyl...) or paint it. All done and professional looking.

You can simply use mdf by making rings or buying them pre made. You can attach the rings in many different ways but it all depends on how they lay in the kick and where you cut material away. Usually a nice staple gun works fine. I like to use fiberglass mat first and staple that all in place then coat it with resin. I’ll lay more over or use chop mat. Something with a larger area or crazy curves etc I’ll use fleece to start with.

For some reason.. I like door pods much better. I had some of those Qlogic kick panels at one time, and I didnt like them much.Speakers grills took a beating from people that didnt give two puddz about being careful when getting in and out. especially in the rain with muddy shoes. I spent more time trying keep those jokers clean than the entire vehicle. They did fit nice though
