But again, stimulus packages have worked historically, while trickle-down has failed. Our last administration ignored history and tried trickle-down, which failed. Should the current administration have tried it yet again? Eventually a losing team HAS to win, theory?
The ONLY problem with the last administration was COVID and that was not the Presidents fault. Inflation was WAY lower, there was food on store shelves, there was baby formula, gas prices were lower. None of this can be disputed. This current president is a failure.

Trickle down was attempted well before COVID, and it failed before COVID.
The response to COVID was a failure. Things would have gone in the shitter, but pretty much every analysis confirms it could have been dealt with better, but was not.
Hindsight is always 20/20, but there is not one person on this planet who could believe in their heart that ignoring and hiding the problem with lies was a good idea.

I could just as easily say that had COVID not shown up, things would have been just fine.

Like I said -
Lower inflation
No food shortages
Much lower gas prices
Energy independence

I don't know what people in their right mind thinks these were bad things. Blind hatred makes people stupid.

In a vacuum stimulus might work better...but with a national debt at our level...there's a real need to tighten the belt instead of big spending packages...

Not a soul would disagree that things would be better without COVID, but economists already showed that the trickle-down theory failed once again.

Not sure where you are from, but there were some major food shortages here. And toilet paper. Gas prices climbed as soon as Trump got in office (why he do that?), but then got cheap because no one was going anywhere, including to work (this is bad)
Energy independence was a myth. We've gone over that.

Had COVID not occurred, his other failings would still have existed. They can't be denied.

He inherited all the bad shit from the previous administration. That B.S. seems to be a usable accusation when Democrats toss it around.

It was better under Trump and will be better again when a Republican gets back in the WH.

He didn't inherit trickle-down; he implemented it. And it failed. Again.
These stats are pre-Covid.
JOBS
New job growth peaked at 225,00 per month in 2014-2015 under Obama. New job growth under Trump peaked at 193,000 a month in 2018, then dropped.
ECONOMIC GROWTH
In 2015, we had growth at 3.1% under Obama. Trump hit 3% in 2018, then subsequently declined.
UMEMPLOYMENT
Following the Bush-era recession , it was at 10%, and declined to 4.7% under Obama. A 5.3% reduction. Under Trump it dropped from 4.7% to 3%. Only a 1.7% decrease.
US MFG OUTPUT INDEX
Grew from 89-102.4 under Obama. Under Trump it only grew from 102.4-105, then started to decline.
TRADE DEFICIT
Part of Trump's platform was that trade deficit was bad and he would eliminate it. It actually increased during his administration.
GDP GROWTH
GDP grew 38% in 8 years under Obama. It grew 16% in his first four years. Under Trump it took over two years to grow 8.6%. This would translate to a 4-year growth of less than 14-16% if the pandemic did not happen.

It's mathematics and facts. neither of which have feelings or opinions.

Wow. So these things still grew as your math shows in 3 years compared to 8. Who cares if the growth numbers beat the rate of Obama... It's still growth.

Yes. But to claim that less growth is better than more growth is a bit disingenuous.
"It was better under Trump, even though the numbers don't reflect it. I'd rather see 5% growth than 8%". Odd way to see things.
Kind of like people who wouldn't pay more for a 1/3 lb burger than a 1/4 lb "because 3 is smaller" (yep, it happened).
Turn it up to 11...

Growth is growth. Splitting hairs. But I wasn't talking about how it was better under Trump than Obama. I am saying it was better.... WAY BETTER under Trump than it is Biden. Other than not being a fan of the OVERPRICED affordable "Obama Care", I wasn't "unhappy" under Obama.
