I'm not "trying" right now. Just playing around with design concepts. I was mostly wondering how high they can be pushed. I figured they would play 60Hz to 100 Hz far stronger than a normal 6.5 mid driver. But can they play quality sound up to 200 - 300 Hz in a tight well fitted and braced enclosure so as to make a good blend with a 3.5" mid driver? That's what I was curious about.

Been watching PSSound YouTube channel a lot. Wish I could hear one of his fully IB Sub and Mid Bass driver installs. Totally curious about it, but not sold that I would like the Midbass IB'd like that for most of my listening.

Get the deaf bonce Arnold's m6a1e instead

In an enclosure, the CDT 06+ Or M6+ will easily play down to sub bass frequencies and smooth up to about 4khz. In IB setups they will greatly lose the low end output and will only have solid output from around 80 hz and up depending on the vehicle.

I have the CDT 6x9 midbass and it's the same story with these. In IB setup just mounting in the door panel it plays nicely from 60 hz-4000 hz, but in a sealed enclosure it plays surprisingly low. Plays below 40 HZ and sounds good

Freq Response starts at 100, Fs 114? Nah, not what I'd be looking for in this use case.

Scanspeak makes a good 6.5" midbass.
Good 'ol anarchy 704 is what I'm running from 60-500hz
Hertz ML 1650.3 is a solid performer in IB
Tang band makes a 6.5 that would do well.

Mating up to a 3.5" isn't terribly hard. Finding a 6.5 that will play down to 60hz is a bit more of a challenge. Putting alot of midbass drivers into an enclosure doesn't work well since they are ment for IB. There are a few built for small sealed enclosures.

The mack daddy of midbass drivers is the JL ZR800. Crazy expensive when they pop up, but they are absolute beasts even compared to the Anarchy.

come on, what’s the matter you ain’t going for that bull horn sound 🤣. To help narrow things down a bit, how much power do you need them to handle, what volume sealed do you have available, what’s the max mounting depth you have to work with, and what kinda budget are you trying to stay in? There are many good midbass drivers around but the reason for that is due to the millions of different applications that can possibly exist. All we gotta figure out is which ones will best in your specific application.

As I indicated earlier, I don't have a specific application. This was simply a conceptual conversation. To be honest I've never been completely satisfied with the Midbass from my systems in the past. And I'm talking PAST. I've been out of the hobby for many years and been getting the itch again. I know mountains more about sound now than I did back then after working in Pro AV for 16 years. But for the moment I'm just tinkering with ideas while looking at what's out there.

Ur better off putting a dedicated midbass driver instead of a sub. 6.5" subs are really just midbass drivers with more excursion and a bigger coil. They don't play well above 150hz and sound pretty ****.

The list I made above is mainly a guide. You can go as cheap as the Anarchys or as expensive as some of the 8" high-end woofers. The main difference is how they sound playing above about 400hz. The Hertz ML 1650.3 I have will easily mate up to some tweeters at 2.5k and sound good, when I added a 3" midrange I switched to Anarchys. The Anarchys start to sound bad at around 1k, but I'm running them in a 3-way crossed at 500hz.

I will definitely run 3-ways, that much I know. PS Sound put a pair of 8's in the Kicks 9f a TT about 3 years ago that crushed the SQ competitions. Fully enclosed not IB. This I would consider. But that would depend on the car and choice of Sub. None of this is happening in my current vehicle. I lost the car I wanted to put a system in due to an accident. What I ended up getting was just something to hold over while I work to start a new business and wait for the auto industry prices to land back on earth.
