Shoes? Or tools?
The junk yard I worked at was the largest in the state. Pulling parts on cars out in the yard, you sometimes set a tool down somewhere and forget it, or it falls onto the ground. It's a lot easier to find a socket when it has neon spray paint on it. Also, everyone knew a tool was mine if they found one. The only things I ever lost that didn't get found were a 21mm shallow socket and a pocket knife. Some of my friends who didn't paint their tools lost things like Matco ratcheting wrenches, which are like $80 for one wrench.
I do have quite a bit of steel case Tula 7.62x39. I have some brass case Wolf .223 and some Winchester 12 gauge target loads, and Remington .22LR, but the rest of my ammo isn't too poverty. I have mostly Winchester and Federal .45ACP. I also have a Ruger 5.7 with over 1,500 rounds of 5.7x28, which was crazy expensive. I have about 400 rounds of surplus .50BMG and 250 rounds of new PMC. I don't usually go to a range to shoot. My family owns a big chunk of land in the country about 15 minutes away, which is where I go to shoot.
