I currently have a sundown xv2 15 inch sundown in my car and im thinking of adding 2 or 3 8 inch subs for the higher frequencies, Im just wondering if its okay to do that or if it will cause any issues? If so i may just add a second 15.

Depends on how you want to set them up.
Are you looking to put them in a box in the trunk or up front in the cabin.
My buddy, this was a long time ago had 5.25 comps in the front doors, RF punch 8's in the wall above the armrest in the back seat and 2 RF. Punch 15's in the trunk of a 92 civic hatchback.
It sounded really good but he had the 8's running as midbass.

I was thinking of having them in the back with the 15. I have an expedition so there is a lot of room. And yeah i want to have the 15 playing 27-40hz and the 8's playing 40-120 or so. But lets say i was playing something at 32hz the 8's are still going to play, just at lower power. So im wondering if that will be an issue at all, especially since they would all be in the back together.

Don't do it. 8's can play plenty low. Just get another 15".

Okay awesome thank you. So my system current has a dead spot between 80hz and 120hz cause my sub is capped at 80 and my mids aren't rated for below 120. So a lot of music that I like to listed too doesn't sound very good. Any recommendations on how I can't fix that gap?

Get an 8" midbass somewhere! Midbass not midrange.

Each his own, depending on how an what you like. I had people tell me my setup wouldn't work. Now i see people coping me around town..
I've got 4 12 comp vrs 2 comp vr 10 an 1 comp 15.. all set to step the bass. 10s are mid bass, 12 are regular bass, 15 is set for deep low bass, an since all this is in a 1990 CRX my 15 is inverted between the seats..

I can assure you nobody who knows what they are doing is trying to copy this, but post up some pics of this install along with RTA measurements and then try to explain how you can't manage to get flat response from 20-80hz with only one subwoofer.

Pics of setup?

Mixing sub sizes often results on phase issues. Also the higher the frequency the easier it is for the brain to locate the source direction.

Size of sub has very little to do with bandwidth. The enclosure will have a much more drastic effect.

My opinion is above 60hz should be played by mid bass/mid range door speakers. Though it often hard to get door speakers to play that low so 80hz is much more common of a setting.

My 6.5s don't like playing much above 55hz due to the enclosure being tuned so low. Which most people think that small subs can't play low, but I can assure you I can reach down into the upper 20s with decent authority. Is it stupid loud? No its only 2 6.5s but I can get the full effect of the music. I more run into the issue of bottoming out on slap notes because the subs just don't have the excursion needed and I have way too much power

My 8 inch sub plays easily down to 25 hz with a smooth response all the way up to 100+. Mine is low passed at 80 hz for the reason mentioned above, as my door woofers only play down to 65. There is absolutely no reason to mix cone sizes for getting smooth bass response. It serves 0 practical purpose in real world music reproduction and will cancel out more bass than it produces. You might hear bass using multiple sized subs, but that doesn’t mean much. The same amount of cone area using matched subs on the same power would crush a system using a mash up of different sized subs 100 out of 100 times.

I want to see him do a sweep and see his low and high peaks. I bet it sounds like a High School system.
