I don't understand why they don't ask for our help. 20 years ago we had a freak ice storm that almost completely destroyed our grid but we made it through just fine. Some cities had locomotives converted into generators and all kind of neat hacks.

Seems like every year Texas gets hit with close to or below 32 degrees weather yet people don't insulate properly when building houses or their existing houses. Sucks this is happening but every state is subject to cold during the winter and should be prepared for it somehow someway. My cousins down there have several generators each because they insulated properly 2 decades ago including pipes and each own 3 generators and all of them have wired in diesel Generac Generators they took loans out for because of stuff like this and hurricanes every time it has paid for itself and then some.
