Your attitude is a large part of why the trucking industry is as predatory as it is. They need to unionize but they're all anti-union so they get screwed. I guess it's not much different than soldiers ending up on the front line because two politicians are having a pissing contest. Apparently your response to them would be the same.

If you were a judge and gave that religious bs as a ruling you'd be rightfully ripped to shreds by the bar lol. Also, I hardly think the executives that work from home are making the same sacrifices, nor is a judge.. also working from home.
Unions are bullshit. You are forced to pay a third party money to go and bully companies into giving you your way or they will cause a strike and shut the business down. Wow, sounds like a very early form of Cancel Culture. Phuck Unions. My attitude is everything cost money, everyone knows this. You pick a job, you work it, you EARN a damn wage. Don't like your job? You should have paid more attention in school or got a higher education. Jobs pay what they pay... don't like it, IMPROVE YOUR SITUATION IN LIFE!!! It is nobody's responsibility but YOURS to earn a wage.

Soldiers on the front line... well, there is no draft so I am pretty sure it's a voluntary employment. Part of a soldiers job is to fight. It's known from the beginning. If a soldiers dies on the "front line" I don't feel sorry for them, I say thank you for sacrificing your life for ___________ . When I see a soldier in person, I thank them. When I see a Cop, I thank them. They know what their job is and so do I.

As far as the "religious" bs, I am not religious however it was funny. If the "BAR" has a problem with a Judge using a religious comment then they should probably not make people swear on a bible. Kinda hypocritical don't ya think?

There is a big difference between a private union and a government union. I agree 100% that government unions are BS, but I’m not convinced about private unions being BS. They can get that way depending on how they are organized for sure, but there is some value in private sector unions.

We can just agree to disagree about worker rights and whether it's beneficial for society to help facilitate less exploitation in the workplace. I doubt I'm ever going to bring you back from that much of an extreme capitalistic viewpoint.

That reminds me of this little nugget lol.

Workers rights?? Nobody is owed a job!! Nobody is guaranteed a job!! When you are hired somewhere YOU are telling that job that YOU are willing to do that job for the money they are offering. NOBODY has to offer you anything above that. If you feel you have reached a dead end in your job then you approach your boss and negotiate for more wages. They don't have to say yes. Nothing is keeping you there. Find more gainful employment. Just because a person makes the choice to plateau their skills doesn't then mean instead of gaining more skills you demand more from your employer for the same skills or production.

But you know what you can do, pick up a shovel and work the land. Grow some crops and sell them. Work for a living and stop demanding extra shit just for being there like it is a companies privilege to have you there. Exploitation in the workplace... give me a break! Only one person is keeping you where you are, only one person is allowing you to be "exploited", only one person is to blame. Yourself. If you don't make a change don't expect the world to do it for you. The toilet paper is on the holder. I suggest all of you start wiping.

The state government does.

I disagree. How this is being enacted is basically everybody is being shut down besides the companies that lobby to the government. The corporations are paying the gov to shut down their small business competition. Why does walmart, costco, home depot, etc. get to stay open when small shops, that are the same type of business, get shut down?

I didn't say it was right necessarily (that depends on the situation), I just said the states have the power to shut them down. State governments are in many ways more powerful than the federal government. States rights used to be a well-known thing in republican circles...

States have the same responsibility to their citizens as the federal government though. The entire purpose of the millitary and the national guard is to keep us safe and apparently viruses just render the government completely irresponsible for what happens as a result of negligence on that principle? Ok. They didn't hesitate basically at all on restricting our rights for the patriot act and now that hundreds of thousands more people have died than did on 9/11 we just don't care? lol Ya'll have worms in your brains sometimes.

Actually it is law that your employer must have a safe work environment. If they can't supply that then yes they could be sued and fined for it.
Yeah that's basically the starting point for all state laws. Some go further than others. Workers compensation is pretty global though and it's based on the premise that if an injury occurs as part of someone doing the job they're contracted to do then they're allowed just compensation from the company that put them in that position. Maybe he should go lobby against his own best interests so his boss can stuff his head in the pizza oven or just put oil slicks everywhere in the kitchen. It's after all his responsibility to prevent injury.

Try dealing with OSHA on a weekly basis like my mom and dad did. Mom use to work at the center where they would train people in OSHA Guidelines to work at Oil Refineries in Illinois in the Chicago area. Dad was a Foreman Machinist at Mobil Oil for almost 30 years and helped build that plant in Elwood, still the last Oil Refinery every built in the states. I dealt with OSHA all the time as well at Mack. Ugh talk about parasites but the rules are there for a reason.

I agree but it is NOT their job nor legal obligation to make sure YOU use good safety practices, good judgment and common sense.

When OSHA shows up and starts fining the company for not having it's employees work safely, then, be prepared to be fired. When I owned my company, and OSHA showed up, it was my job to answer for unsafe conditions and practices. Shiit, we got fined from OSHA for not having supervision on a job when we told all of the emoyees to take off July 4th. A couple of guys came to work anyway and one fell 10 feet and died. OSHA said it was our fault for not having supervision on the Job. It was a holiday, but OSHA didn't care. If I saw my employees working unsafe and not following the company safety rules, it was warning first, fine second, and fired it happened a third time. It is a company's legal obligation to have a safety program and provide the tools and PPE necessary for their employees to work safely.
