If I am understanding your post, you put these in a truck and it sounds bad. Then to test, you plugged them to your 4 wheeler system and they sound great. It sounds like you are running them directly off the Alpine. If so, then you lack sufficient power. They have an efficiency 88 decibles so an amp is a must.

Okay, that makes sense. But I am still confused because the amp hooked up in my truck is 250 watt rms and it is hooked up to the alpine head unit. Should I try put in a more powerful amp?
The speakers I installed say the power range is 2-50 watt rms and I have 4 installed in the truck, plus the stock bose tweeters and an 8” or 10” sub not sure of the specs on it. Also the alpine head unit is pushing 18 watts across 4 channels. The previous owner of the vehicle had the sub, amplifier and head unit installed at an audio shop. I am starting to realize all the speakers distort including the tweeters when i try turning the volume up. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

The amp you have is not a voice amplifier, it is a subwoofer amp that can only play up to 200hz, and is only powering the subwoofer. Since you do not mention another amp, I deduce that the speakers are connected directly to the Alpine radio. As you mentioned, 18 watts rms per channel is not bad, but only with the right wattage speakers. If you had some in the 10-50 watts rms, 4ohms, minimum of 92db sensetivity, you would be ok. But the speakers you currently have are better suited for high power systems. If you amp them, your sub stage will be drowned.
Like stated above, the distortion comes from too small of an amp powering too strong of a speaker. Best bet is to change out the speakers for some with above specifications. I would stick to two way speakers for they are cheaper, easier to find, bigger selection, and easier to wire.

What voice amp would you recommend for the speakers i have? I cant take the speakers back and I just bought them from crutch field so i might as well get the voice amp and use them. My sub is so strong it feels like my steering wheel is going to shake off the steering shaft when the sub turned up.

WTF is a voice amp? you need a fullrange amp.....saying voice amp makes you sound like a total moron, be careful the advice you take on here
yeah I was looking for voice amps and nothing was coming up. Been doing some research and I was only finding people referring to full range amps.

WTF comes to mind when you hear the term "voice amp"? Don't be a stoopid little betch trying to toss terminology as if all know about car audio.
only a week late on that comment, say what ya want bro, your the forum retard not me...i could correct almost every post you make, sometimes its best to be silent if you dont know what your talking about.....so take a seat at the back of the classroom and STFU

This is my take on you. I percieve you have extensive knowledge regarding car audio and the ability to impart that knowledge in a concise manner. Now you claim you can correct almost every post I have partaken in, then do so. That is the whole point of this entire web site. You have helped others with technical solutions, gotten thanked, and then vomit all over your built up reputation in your next post. You should take your own advice and shut the phuck up when the going is good. In retrospect it seems as if positive input makes you uneasy. Must be a defense mechanism. Stay fresh cheese bag.
