book recommendations for enclosure design/speaker behavior

well since quarantine is still dragging on and there's only so much anime I can watch. I'm wanting to read a book on enclosure design.
I'd need something geared towards someone assuming they have no knowledge other than the most basic of basics.
I know a little, but I dont wan't to be confused. nor do I want an in depth theoretical look at designing a speaker from scratch.

I want something primarily focused on enclosure design and how it relates to speaker parameters to obtain a given sound or response goal. (I.E. if possible i'd like it to include sealed through 6th order, as well as home audio acoustics. selection of woofers or speakers for a given application based of T/S parameter etc.)

I appreciate any suggestions.

The Loudspeaker Cookbook 7th edition by Vance Dickason is a good one to get started with.

Warning: the material is a bit dry and overall the book reads like a term paper. I have read it and re read it several times and I'm still just scratching the surface.

Another very helpful book (even if you dont own Bass Box Pro) is the user manual for Bass Box Pro.

Its an easy reading guide that steps you through several different enclosure designs along with how to interpret the various plots that the software creates.

The book is included with Bass Box Pro 6 software if you choose to buy the software ( I highly recommend it if you want to get serious about enclosure design.)

BBP6 runs about $130 from Parts Express and there is always a coupon code out there that should save at least $10.

Those are the 2 best books to dive into enclosure design and acoustics.

The Loudspeaker Cookbook 7th edition by Vance Dickason is a good one to get started with.

I appreciate the suggestions. one thing I've heard is that the loudspeaker cookbook is more of a technical bible for the theory of how a speaker works to the finest detail to the point of almost being able to design one.

if you disagree I'd be curious to here why.

I've also heard it assumes a decently high level of knowledge out the gate.

i'm looking for something that's a little bit more practical as opposed to theoretical in nature. kind of a read and build and read and build type thing.

True that LDC7 assumes a high amount of knowledge right off the bat. There is a lot of theory that the book presents and there is some information overload if you are inexperienced. It does explain how every detail of a loudspeaker works and you can build your own.

Overall I would say the book is more focused to the home audio side of things (controlled listening environment with low losses) but audio is audio, there is a big overlap between home and car.

It sounds like you would be better suited to learning Bass Box Pro 6. The book that comes with the software explains enough theory for you to understand but doesn't overwhelm you. Then it steps you through a couple different box designs and explains what and why and how to analyze the graphs.

Once you learn it, you can make designs for others or even build and sell your own boxes. Build a few boxes and your investment is paid back.

I've simulated about 6 boxes for 6 different woofers in win isd. just simple bass reflexes. the extent of my knowledge is just being able to read basic transfer magnitude and port wind graphs, excursion graphs etc. I played wioth the parameter and tried to see how it affects all these things. if i'm not mistaken. bass box pro is a more advanced version of that? well worth the money you say?

BBP is far more accurate amd worth the money if you are serious about the hobby.
