True that LDC7 assumes a high amount of knowledge right off the bat. There is a lot of theory that the book presents and there is some information overload if you are inexperienced. It does explain how every detail of a loudspeaker works and you can build your own. Overall I would say the book is more focused to the home audio side of things (controlled listening environment with low losses) but audio is audio, there is a big overlap between home and car. It sounds like you would be better suited to learning Bass Box Pro 6. The book that comes with the software explains enough theory for you to understand but doesn't overwhelm you. Then it steps you through a couple different box designs and explains what and why and how to analyze the graphs. Once you learn it, you can make designs for others or even build and sell your own boxes. Build a few boxes and your investment is paid back.
