Hello all,

I'm installing my very first system. It's been a dream of mine for years. I have 2 R2SD4-10" subs. They have DVC's and a 4 ohm impedance with 200 watts rms and 400 watts max. I am looking to wire the subs in parallel/series for a total impedance of 2 ohms. The sub manufacturer said I can install them at either 2 ohms or 8 ohms.

So here is where I am lost. I have a pretty good grasp on the wiring and sub/amp matching. But I'm having trouble finding a good amp that has an impedance of 2 ohms at 400 watts rms. I have found several at 2 ohms/500 watts. But the low to high range is 360-480 watts rms for my subs.

I'm concerned about pushing the subs too much with that extra 20 watts over the high range.

Lastly, what is the best way to connect my two components mids, two tweeters and two coaxials in to a 4 channel amp? Do I run all 4 speaker in to the amp and run the tweeters in to the head unit?

Kind Regards and thanks for your help!

Two D4 ohm subwoofers would wire to 1 ohm or 4 ohms.

I would get a good 1000 rms 1 ohm stable amp. Impedance rise will have you seeing way less power in real life.

You have one set of components? Then left would be channel 1, right channel 2, and your coaxials can be ran on channel 3 and 4. The crossover on component sets connect the tweeter and mid woofer.

Thank for the reply! So 1000 watts rms wouldn't be too much power for my subs since they are 400 watts rms combined?

Also the user manual said I could wire the subs 2ohm or 8ohm. How would I wire them for 1 ohm to match the impedance of the amp?

And yes I have one set of components. I plan on installing the mids in the front and the tweeters in the doors to replace the stock tweeters. They do come with 2 individual crossovers with 4 terminals for 2 speakers. So I guess I would run the mids directly in to the ch 1&2 on the amp and the tweeters directly in two the crossovers, leaving the two extra spots in the crossovers empty correct?

Appreciate your feedback Popwarhomie!

The actual crossover has an input that will be wired a channel on the amp and 4 outputs. One marked for the mid and the other marked for the tweeter.

Most good quality subs are conservatively rated. the subs and the enclosure play a role in how much power your subs will take. Impedance rise will lower the amps actual out put. Even if a 1000 watt amp is a little too much for your subs you don't have to use all the amps power.
Personally if I was you I'd be looking at 800 to 1.2k 1 ohm stable amplifiers

You said the subs are dual 4 ohm. Keep in mind that this means you have to wire them in series/parallel which will give you 4 ohms. Yes, the amp...

I recommend wiring to the 2 ohm load on the amp you stated you have, or you can wire to an 8 ohm load for amp stability. You can wire one sub to...
