Review of:

ppi 88r-dsp

Post name, details and review of the equipment you're reviewing. This forum is for reviews only! No questions should be posted!

i installed this a few days ago.

well a total of 30 min's of use the remote out stopped working..

im pissed to say the least.

the unit still works, i had to run a switch for my amps.

as the dsp manual says the dsp MUST turn on first.

so after the dsp turns on i flip the switch to turn my amps on.

i like the adjustments, very user friendly.

i also rta my system and i have this really high 460hz peak that i cannot adjust out.

but over all its a good budget dsp.

i e-mailed ppi to see what it will cost to fix.

i also plan on doing a youtube vid. on it.

as there no setup or good revue on it.

my sq 6.5's

mic, in center of truck

not sure why i cant.

now i have the h/u flat . so i may have to go into the h/u and lower it.

i have the dsp all the way down on the eq and it lowered it a little.

im wandering if its not the speakers .

anybody know what the 2 selections are in the start screen ?

you can pic 3 things.

dsp-88r-pre

dsp-88r-amp

offline mode.

what are the first 2 ?

i tryed both and i dont know what they mean.

also there something else i dont under stand.

this has 2 remote in wires.

i dont get why theres 2.

but it only has 1 remote out.

manual is here if anybody needs or wants to look at it.

It won't take any adjustments without the remote plugged in and working the presets are saved there. You're probably not eqing **** lol, did you transfer your preset to the dsp and then set it with the remote

Just use pre, amp is probably for amps with dsps and offline mode won't work with the dsp it's made for initial settings and learning the program

I didn't bother using the remote out

remote is plugged in and working.

and i have made a few presets and its working.

i was not sure what the pre and amp was.

the remote wire going to the amps does not work.

but i have a switch to turn the amps on after the dsp starts.

but the wired remote works.

Was interested in this unit, let us know what ppi says!
its a good unit.

i just got a bad one.

like i said it all work and works great, except the remote turn on lead from dsp to amps.

so i just wired in a switch to turn amps on after dsp starts.

as the manual says the dsp needs to turn on first.

thats why the remote out wire has a 2 sec. delay.

i may just get a delay relay and be done.

that will take care of the problem.

as im sure its not going to be cheap to send it back, have them fix it....

delay relay cost $15 .

Coulda used a minidsp
buy it for me and ill use it..lol

ok guys...

i pulled the plug and got it in all the way.

im getting about 6 volts from it. it will not turn on my relay .

so i ran a wire right to one amp as my amps are daisy chained ( turn on ) and it turns them on no problem..

i dont get why only 6 volt.

****, forgot to add..

im getting 6 volts from the wire, but when i conected it to my amps i get 12 volt from it.

that i dont get, but it works.
