Aura RPM 2300

I recently installed one of these in place of an Alpine PDX1.1000 that was running a pair of subs at 2 ohms. I switched it up and ran 1 Aura RPM2300 in stereo one channel to each sub. The subs are dramatically cleaner sounding while still providing the same amount of bass. The subs are actually a lot more controlled and accurate. I expected a big drop off in power, however this amp clearly is overbuilt. It provides a ton of power and does it very cleanly.

I recently ended up swapping one in for my front stage as well and it performs VERY well. I am loving the output and the clean sound from this amp on my Dynaudio System 360.

I'm running a rpm2300 on my opti5.1 comps and they are loud, smooth and clear. I'd say that it does rated power although it didn't seem to do that well bridged on a PG rsdc 10. I don't care for the cheap hex screws for the terminals nut its great otherwise.

Read that clamp tests showed they were nicely underrated.

RMS @13.5v

175x 2 @ 4ohms

325x 2 @ 2ohms

650x1 @ 4 ohms

That said...... I just ordered one! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/boink.gif.91933e72f927f2cefc79aff02573090c.gif :boink: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/boink.gif.91933e72f927f2cefc79aff02573090c.gif

sounds very good, though, its only pushing my midbass, its a very nice amp for the price. I can hear it turn on as opposed to my BA GT40 amp which was silent, but its nothing thats super annoying. For the price, so far, I say you cant go wrong with it. I also like the fact it has onboard RCA outputs so now i can run attenuated rear fill (without having to split RCAs for input to the channels) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif and boy did it give me some extra depth. Very satisfied customer so far!

For $100 shipped this amplifier is an amazing value. The only reason I didn't buy this Aura RPM2300 when I was recently shopping for an amplifier for 4 ohm subwoofer was because what I really wanted is 4-channel amp with similar power. 2 RPM2300s would take too much space. I still wonder if I should buy it anyway and just stash away for a future project..

No woofer is "too much" for an amp.But they are just not very good woofers period, and overpriced, a poor value.
I meant more in the sense that the ceiling of the amp is nowhere near the ceiling of the sub.

What woofers/brand would you recommend for this amp then???? And no, I don't want to spend Audison money. Preferably something decent. I don't care about brands, I just want good SQ.

This depend on your budget. In the $200-$300 range, I'd consider ScanSpeak Discovery 30W/4558T 4ohm sub sold by madisound or Arc Audio Arc12D2. The ScanSpeak Discovery 30W/4558T is a clone of the Peerless XXLS sold by parts express, which is known for good SQ. The Scanspeak T/S parameters imply usability in a bit small box than XXLS (WinISD suggest 1.9 cu ft or so for XXLS). This amp could actually be over the top as this sub should run off just 300watt amplifier. Arc12 is a clone of IDQv2 with a better motor. IDQ subs have a good following, and many people actually prefer v2 to v3. For a start, I'd put either of these subs into the 1.4cu ft hatchback style sealed box sold by sonicelectronix.

If you're looking for a sub that costs less than $200, consider Infinity Kappa 120.9w sub with switchable 2ohm/4ohm impedance.. Configured for 4ohms, 1 to 1.2cu ft sealed box is about perfect. It's rated for 350watts, but 19mm xmax suggests it could handle a lot more than that and still sound good. I'd say 250-500watt amp is great for it, the more the better. This is not an SPL sub, but will fill a sedan with more than enough bass IMO.
