i was thinking of getting an 80 gb ipod......to put all my music on ...but i have heard good things about the zunes.

Indeed, that's the support for FLAC and I believe OGG, could be wrong about that though...

why dont u use eac/lame? rip wav then convert with mp3..get ur avg 224kb or 320

FLAC is a codec, like the MP3 codec. It is used for lossless (meaning no audio information lost, for example how badly encoded MP3's sound like shit compared to the CD) and mainly for archiving because the file sizes are so **** huge it is a pain in the ***.

But you must have some golden ears if you can hear crap on a well encoded mp3 @ 320kbps using EAC and Lame..

I use EAC...

rip wav then convert with mp3..get ur avg 224kb

I can't stand the way MP3s sound...

Well, better than iPod anyways. The software is less intrusive. Easier to operate. The battery life is in the range of 5-10x longer. Has not messed up on me a single time yet. It's CHEAPER!!! Enough said. Man did I hate my iPod.

zune in my book. every family member of mine has a zune. mom, dad, 2 sisters and brother. My original zune beats them out, especially with the recent firmware updates, but the zune 2 is a world above even the original. I wouldnt trade an ipod for my zune any day. No way in hell.

had a ZV:M and an Old Nomad Xtra. My dad had a Zen Micro...

EH. They were OK. Not spectacular.

If you want an iPod alternative go with Cowon.

To each his own. I've messed around with my friends Zune and I wasn't fond of the software though, so I have a feeling I'll be sticking with Creative for quite a while.
