ZR1 - "Greatest Car Ever Made"??

Even with your analogy cars are getting better and better...With time comes change...Thats just like saying since Michael Phelps is able to train better, eat better, etc. He is not the greatest Olympian ever because Mark Spitz did it with less technology behind his training, etc...Numbers dont lie...It just goes to show you that humans as a race are starting to peak in the area of technology //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif..and to say since its a newer car it cant be the greatest is insane..u drive your Lambo from the 60's and I will take the new hotness //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
The best car ever made needs to be something that can do every function of a car, plus have something unique about it. You could take a Z06 which are stacked up at all my local chevy dealers, slap a blower on it, update the suspension and paint it blue and it'd be faster than a ZR-1. You cannot do that to a car like a Bugatti Type 57, Ferrari 250 GTO, Ford GT40, Triumph TR7 or even a AC Cobra. There are a huge list of prerequisitites for being the greatest ever, and being fast is very low on the list. Along with the GT-R, that's all that these cars are good at: going fast in their own respective ways.

Actually the Corvette's suspension does utilize a "leaf spring". A very unique design that I believe no other automaker uses.
It's an impressive car, no doubt, and I wouldn't hesitate to make nasty love to it...but the sheer technology and design of the GT-R makes me horny.

GT-R > Corvette //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
GT-R> corvette

zr-1> GT-R

z-06 and the zr-1 are very different...not just a blower and paint....but for the money and knowing that id quickly want to everything not stock the motor....id take a c6 z06

I think that this post fails as hard as your connection speed. You are taking absolutely nothing into account here. Explain to me how a 2.2 litre NA 4 banger from an s2k can push 240 hp, but a 3.0 litre a4 V6 can only push 220 hp? You sort of need to look at things other than just forced induction and displacement.
motor vs. motor same car...same *****, gears etc.....the audi motor would riz-ape VTEC

Of course, that was a simplification to make a point //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

But that's the problem, you cannot compare them apples to apples because they were designed to do completely different things. That was the entire point of my post.

what was the s2k motor designed to do differently than the audi a4 motor?

The leaf spring argument never gets old. It's only used by morons who dont understand the entirely different capacity to which the 'leaf spring' is used in the vettes.

+1g on "leaf spring" not bad. The greatest car ever made probably should have added for the money. My problem is when they do a limited production car the dealership jacks the prices way up, not dumping on the dealership because the are there to make money it just creates that market. A local dealership sold there ZR-1 for $75,000 over that is just insane.

It is a fantastic car, but at the end of the day, it's just a hopped up corvette.
And that is a bad thing? I know I am predigests, but again for the money the C6 is amazing. I would love to have the hopped up corvette , ZR-1

That is true I have not driven one, but looking at the specs versus a C6 Z51 I can sure imagine how it would be. Hell mine car gives me an erection driving it, that one would make me blow my wad.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

It is a fantastic car, but at the end of the day, it's just a hopped up corvette. It is nowhere near the greatest car ever made. ****, 67 stingray split window is a better car because it has prestige and history. No car made today gets to be greatest ever.
They didnt make a split window vette in 67.

The only year they made that was 63.

I have a hard time believing that. S2000 weighs 2850 pounds and has almost as much horsepower to the wheels as the Audi has to the crank (dynos 195 rwhp). Put em on a track and it'd be WAY over as well. hah

zr1 is a great car, but best ever is a personal

choice. I choose the Zonda F clubsport.

Because cars of years past were built on different ideals and using different techniques than the cars of today. These days, "high end" cars are talked about as though they're hand built. Years past, that was the only way to do things. Tell me this, the Lamborghini Murcielago is far more technologically advanced, faster, more reliable and more efficient than a 1968 Lamborghini Miura SV. However, which car would you say is a more technological and performance marvel: a car that does over 170 mph in the 60s, or a car that does 200 mph in the 2000s when it's the reference standard for super cars?
well i guess you have a different definition of greatest car.. IMO it means the best performance / bang for the buck and whatever else. Not whether it was "hand made" or less technologically advanced.
