as to my posts being not being meaningful im not sure where you get that from. im sorry im not asking a question we all know the answer to. if you're too stupid to grasp that you're not going to see very much if anything at all by spending an extra hundred dollars thats your own shortcoming. now please go buy a three hundred dollar sheilded optical cable and be done with it.

My law of deminishing returns varies per the quality of equipment I am using. I don't have a problem spending $100 or so for all of the RCA's in my system.

So does anyone know of any actual scientific research on the topic? I'd love to see and honest double blind study on a $10 pair vs a $100 pair or even a $1000 pair in a real environment such as a home or a car.

Richard Clarke did one several years ago. The basic result was that if you couldn't measure the difference with normal, basic test equipment, then you sure as hell couldn't hear the difference.

The perceived "need" for anything more than a basic shieled cable in the car environment is an example of effective marketing. There is no need for tripple shielding and double silver foil wrapping and silver Litz conductors. I don't care how good the rest of the components are, you still aren't going to hear a difference. I personally use Stinger Bullet RCAs but I have used the very basic PG and Stinger ones as well. I have never had noise in a system that I couldn't trace to a bad ground. The only reason I went with the more expensive (though not by much) RCAs this time was appearance.

well, I believe your system is only as good as it's weakest link. Some people say cables make no difference at all, some swear otherwise, who's right? Who knows.
