Never Enough Money
On most of my songs 55/80 on my 7200mkII is max volume for me, however, on quiet songs, I've gone to 70/80.
80/80 bishes! Dead-head Eclipse 8053 FTMFWYes, I've put a scope on it at 80 and she's clean. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
hmm, wonder if something is wrong with mine. I remember reading a while back where someone was complaining about needing to crank their gains big time with their 9887. For me I think the gains on my Sundowns are at around 75-80% or so //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif When I first set it up I was expecting to turn them up a quarter and be good but seemed I had to crank them up before I started to hear anything bad and then just backed them down a bit.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gifI have found with most of my alpine decks 23-24/35 is the max I prefer.
Currently setting everything at max 24 with my 9887, in my experience I start getting clipping beyond that, but I dont have a scope to know for sure.
Dont need it to go beyond that anyways, just starts tearing apart my rear fill and I have my gains usually almost all the way down with this deck as well due to the voltage at the amps.
Make sure your sub level is turned up. 9887 has 4v pre-outs.....hmm, wonder if something is wrong with mine. I do want to reset them at some point though since I set them on some random music playing at volume 16. Sounded loud at the time lol (night time with the truck off.) I have cranked it up to 32 for a short period of time and didn't hear anything bad, but don't got over 20-22 for loud listening due to my smelly speakers at over 24.
Yea I haven't had subs installed up until yesterday, but its pretty ghetto fab while I wait for the new Mags to ever arrive //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif But currently the sub level is up to 15 and they aren't much to speak of anyways only a small pair of 8's in a sealed box wired to 4ohms on the 1500d so if the gains were right each would be getting 200w. But for the comp amp I got the gain cranked up to 80% or so. Does the sub level affect the mid/high pre-outs as well? I mean everything seems to be working just fine and I don't get any distortion but I never expected to have to turn the gains up so high when the deck has 4v pre outs, maybe if it had standard 2v or so. oh well.Make sure your sub level is turned up. 9887 has 4v pre-outs.....
My guess is something is wrong. Sub level shouldnt affect your front/rear pre-outs. I have a kenwood 5v preout deck and I ran my sundown with the gain down around 30% at most. My frontstage amp is even lower.Yea I haven't had subs installed up until yesterday, but its pretty ghetto fab while I wait for the new Mags to ever arrive //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif But currently the sub level is up to 15 and they aren't much to speak of anyways only a small pair of 8's in a sealed box wired to 4ohms on the 1500d so if the gains were right each would be getting 200w. Thats what I am thinking is the deal with my 9887 or something. Guess its time to use that search feature to test the RCA voltage to the amps and what grampi did with his 9887 to get it fixed. Then again as long as it ain't clipping or distorting the gain being up isn't a bad thing but I would rather know all my stuff is 100%My guess is something is wrong. That said I've owned some advertised 4v preout decks where I had to crank the gains on my amps...assuming their 4v preout must be full blast with every setting/boost/eq cranked full tilt.
No the sub level wont affect the other pre-outs. How do you have your eq and everything setup? That might have something to do with it.Yea I haven't had subs installed up until yesterday, but its pretty ghetto fab while I wait for the new Mags to ever arrive //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif But currently the sub level is up to 15 and they aren't much to speak of anyways only a small pair of 8's in a sealed box wired to 4ohms on the 1500d so if the gains were right each would be getting 200w. Who knows man, I'm from the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" camp. If your amps are doin power cleanly, who cares where the gains are //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gifThats what I am thinking is the deal with my 9887 or something. Currently they are set by ear when the HU was on volume 16 (seemed loud at the time lol) and I have played up to 32 without any distortion/clipping, but got some stinky speakers after a few minutes. Oh well I got plenty of tuning I have to do in the future anyways, just one more knob to fiddle with.
