Your "loud" volume?

I don't have any of mine, but here is a thread from a guy I almost bought mine from here:
http://www.icixsound.com/vb/showthread.php?t=37547

I would say that 2 gig is too large as mine doesn't work 100% with it but it will still work, I just can't put 2 gigs of music on there and have it play every folder. All micro SD cards I have tried don't work 100% either and will sometimes randomly get a read failed when switching tracks or they will just say read failed when inserted.

The 880 is just as powerful as the AR8500, if not more so (dual 32 band EQ can be very powerful). I don't think there would be a noticeable difference once everything is tuned and adjusted properly between the two except the volume progression and user interface. I was about to purchase an 880 but the user interface just pissed me off and I have never liked the non-linear nature of Pioneer's volume level increments; they all seem too bass heavy at low volumes and then the highs get louder faster than the bass at higher volumes -- that just makes no sense at all to me but some like it.
That's a nice looking headunit. ****, that would blend perfectly with my interior too lol.

I hear ya on the bass and vocals, that's why I had to set up 2 custom audio settings to prevent that haha. As far as the sq goes though, i've personally yet to hear a setup with a different headunit compare to the 880. It brought my type r components to life. iamamp3pimp on the forum is running one as well and I can't get enough of it. I'm not saying nothing compares, just that I've been in the spl scene too long to understand what true sound quality is like. I see you're in FL, do you ever attend any of the db drag, bass boxing, etc.?

I have found with most of my alpine decks 23-24/35 is the max I prefer.

Currently setting everything at max 24 with my 9887, in my experience I start getting clipping beyond that, but I dont have a scope to know for sure.

Dont need it to go beyond that anyways, just starts tearing apart my rear fill and I have my gains usually almost all the way down with this deck as well due to the voltage at the amps.

Seems like on content that is near the 0db level, greater than 67/80 starts to clip on my eclipse.
I came to the same conclusions with my 8445. 67/80 was the clipping point of the pre-outs with 0dB material. I think I set my gains with it around 63.

Yea, they're not very flashy and do look very nice. There are a lot of picture and video options and you can make/upload your own but that's too flashy for me. I run it with a black background and moon spinning in the left (it was either a moon or just a black square but the moon looks more full haha).

The 880 is definitely a good sounding headunit and the 8500 is comparable. The key is proper tuning as even the best headunit can make a system sound like shit if things are not adjusted properly.

I haven't been to any competitions as it's not really what I'm into and would really only go if I only had to drive about 30 minutes max. I would go but events usually come and pass without my knowledge and that doesn't really bother me.

Yes, I've put a scope on it at 80 and she's clean. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

With 0db material? I've never seen an eclipse go all the way to 80 @ 0db material without clipping...had an old cd1001, cd8051, cd8454 and now a cd7000...

my music really sounds good around 35-40, and when i open the windows i go to 45-50. 50 only on some songs. Starts to distort after 50. When i get the setup in thats in my sig im hoping it fixes this problem. oh and thats out of 62.

I had an old and cheap Kenwood headunit that wouldn't clip the pre-outs at 35/35 with everything flat. It is nothing to get excited about nor does it mean that the headunit is better than any other. It simply means that it was designed to not be able to be run at full hardware capabilities.
